The cost is really what stopped me from experimenting with it months and months ago. It just seems so incredibly excessive for two types of foam glued together and then wrapped up in zippered fabric.

The Exped makes more sense. The foam core is more sophisticated, the manufacturing process has to be more intense, and the QC has to be higher since it's required to hold air to function. And it's still cheaper than a Hest.

Yep, but what else are you going to do - pay double to have your own custom one made? In the end, we’re “overpaying” for the camping experience we have with $10,000+ campers and all the associated upgrades.

Yeah, exactly. I don't have any idea what the costs are to make something like this, especially with some level of US based manufacturing. All I can say is the quality of the product does seem top notch so at least there's that. A good night's sleep and no back pain is worth a lot to me these days, so if it works it's money well spent for me.

I thought someone got one recently or saw one and it had some leaking problems or something.

Lots of new companies coming out! Twindogs looks basically like an aluminum cap with a roof top tent. It doesn’t appear to have access between the cap part and the tent part. That was one of my requirements so I wouldn’t have to climb out a window and down a ladder in the middle of the night! LOL!

Thanks. Per twin dogs the panels can be removed like gfc with the ability to use a ladder or pull a panel. I asked for pictures so let's see

From everything I’ve seen around different groups twin dogs is a scam and no one should do any business with them

Cross posting this here from the RTT thread, this might be a more targeted audience. Does anyone have the Exped megamat max Duo 15 in their wedge?

I made a trip down to REI yesterday to see the Duo 10 LW+ in person. Seems like it is capable of packing down pretty slim once fully deflated. Makes me wonder if the extra 5cm and extra cost would make the MAX 15 worth it. Just not sure if it will deflate as well as the Duo 10. I dont keep a ton of bedding in my RTT, just a sleeping bag. But height is still a consideration

Also was interested in this and haven’t found anything. I think I decided some fairly generic panels would be fine given how much hardware there is available in the doors.

I'm guessing you've found what you need at this point, but for everyone's future reference, this is the Drifter roof strut.

@JoeandGen I’ve changed the struts on my drifter. I used a ratcheting bed divider to hold the lid open. Unzip the tent, lift the lid higher, install new struts (from mcmaster car like others mentioned), then reverse order

Just reporting back on my Hest Dually experience. I've got 3 nights on it with my wife, and 4 nights on it solo in our VO Drifter. All in all I'm very happy with it. It's actually easier to roll up out of the way than the original VO mattress because it's more flexible, and obviously it's way more comfortable. I don't notice the seam in the middle at all. Sure I can feel it when I run my hand across it, but I don't feel it at all when sleeping on it, even when I intentionally lie on it. The only thing I can think is that I've got their fitted sheet on it so maybe that holds it all together? Dunno. But it's not a problem for me at all thankfully.

The only downside is that it's definitely tighter to close it up with the bedding up there. But we can keep two pillows and two 20 degree sleeping bags up there. We have the extension panel, so I keep our pillows on that panel, and pull the sleeping bags up a bit to overlap the pillows since the pillows squish down more than mattress. It doesn't feel like a lot of pressure to get it to close all the way, but it's definitely a little more than it was with the original one or without bedding and I would be nervous to add much more bedding up there and try to get it to close.

Got a few nights into my Inca 4x4 Camper and I'm loving it. Wedge Life is such a game changer! I've got a build thread here on TW but we did a quick build/walkaround video.

So, it was easy to move above the cab to expose the entire bed area below for use? I've been wondering about this specifically. Thanks.
