You don't want to use a debit card with Zelle if you even use Zelle. At least, with a CC, you have the possibility of a chargeback. Debit cards have no such protection.

Well, if I understood my dispatch's comments this afternoon, I may not have to stress about how much I've abused my budget. Management had a meeting yesterday afternoon. It's been rumored that a major LTL trucking company is going belly-up. Well, today, when I commented on how dead it's been (I only worked 6.25 hrs today), dispatch said to enjoy it while it lasts. We may be working 10-12 hr days starting as early as next week. Sounds like the meeting was directed by corporate, warning managers that the LTL in question very well may go belly-up early next week, meaning, all other LTLs will have to pick up the slack. Some haven't been quite as slow as us, so we have more capacity to fill.

On top of that, it's maybe 95% likely that UPS will be going on strike a week from Mon. I don't know how accurate the information I got is, but T-Force used to be a part of UPS and their contract may still be tied to UPS's, meaning they may be out also.

This is going to be interesting...

Would your company be interested in buying a fleet of trucks from a bankrupt trucking firm? I know a person involved…

I'm not positive, but they generally don't buy used trucks. New ones come in to replace ones that need to be retired. Bankrupt trucking companies don't tend to keep up on maintenance. Hell, even those that are doing well sometimes only do what they need to to keep wheels turning. As long as the truck looks good going down the road, you are less likely to be gaining the attention of state and federal inspectors.

I graduated with someone who works at UPS now and he said the trucks are in horrific shape. For quite some time he actually was using a Penske rental truck to deliver packages because they didn't even have enough trucks to go around.

My nephew is a UPS driver and he says that some of that is on UPS (maybe most?) and some is still a problem with getting parts for certain brands/models of trucks. We had a several trucks down for weeks because of a simple sensor. I was going to say more but figured it may earn me a vacation...

Diode comes with all that stuff. Except the switch, because they tie (plug) directly into the factory harness.

? If you're looking for a name, I don't think it's secret. YRC/Roadway/Holland is the carrier in question. They have been in financial trouble for years. A major trucking mag posted within the past couple of days that if it were them, they wouldn't be putting freight on YRC trucks because if it gets caught in the system when the collapse happens, it will be months at the very least before you may be able to recover it.

Yes. 2 spare sets of 5.29’s are on the way to me.

It definitely sounds like Yellow/Holland is done Monday. They made very few pickups Friday to clear out their system and have directed customers to route their freight elsewhere. Huge bummer for the 30k employees there but they’ve been on life support for 15 years at this point.

Allegedly their volumes were down 40% this week so hopefully we don’t get our teeth kicked in too badly next week but it could be interesting for sure. Especially in a national network like yours.

From what I’ve heard, the UPS deal will go through fine, it’s just posturing on both sides at this point. I guess they are pretty much agreed to terms on everything with just a few loose ends to button up this week. Too much money at the table to not get a deal done.

Interesting you say that, I had noted Friday for sure and even Thursday, that I hadn't seen YRC around town at all and I usually saw him several times a day.

Yeah, it sucks for the 30k people who will be looking for new jobs in this environment. Around here, there aren't many openings and the ones that are there are at less than desirable employers.
