I'm just surprised, tbh I didn't even realize the engine drain plugs were magnetic lol. Maybe the ones I've been buying aren't :notsure:

They sell em, actually I think that's the one Dorman thing I always have spares of in the shop for when a new beater rolls in. Ideally it shouldn't need one since all oil sucked up by the pump goes through the filter first before the rest of the engine. But still its a nice piece of mind thingy

It's from one of his parted wrecks which he always comes out ahead on.

Hooking me up with that engine would be awesome, especially just to give me something to do...but would also be incentive to pick up a rig with a blown motor.

If you got one, would you build it up as a back up or to support moar powa?

Wait, doesn't the 5VZ oil pan have a magnet or magnets on there already?

I always get the Dorman ones too so maybe they are, I'll take a closer look next time.

Yeah I have a Camry forged crank for one and I'd probably buy some rods and Pistons and do the head work to rev to 7500rpm. Minor stuff, but it would be enough for me to feel safe turning the boost into the 20s. Then I could just sell my engine or maybe keep it for a rainy day.

That's what I was thinking of; pulled the pan on both the 4R and Taco.

Just not the oil pan and wasn't sure if they had a magnet or not.

Ahh, see that sort of stuff that you and Dan talk about is foreign to me regarding Yota motors.

LQ's/LS's or even LT1's or 4's I can tell ya.

Walking Dex along sidewalk and someone walked around their SUV, saw him and pinned themselves flat against their car like they saw a bear or something. Couldn't help but laugh but geez, big scary husky I guess

It's the same shit you'd do to any engine to beef it up, rods, crank, pistons. Forged is what you want. The stock pistons don't scare me actually but the rods and crank aren't up to the heavy lifting. The top end needs stiffer springs and a bucket over shim conversion and they can rev just fine.

God forbid I ask Dan for motor parts even though he's got more than enough to rebuild a dozen :bananadead:

This one will need fresh rings. The leak down showed they were a little worn. Do a full rebuild and it should be a pretty good motor.

Yea, maybe the filter hadn’t been changed in a while or something. Or maybe I should just sell it for $500.
