Kinda seeing that at my job now. At least in my unit of about 100 people. A few retired 3 years ago (one or two a tad earlier than they planned at first) and quite a few are on the cusp..which is going to be a huge loss of knowledge of the subject matter.

You still have longtimers like me but there's a lot that come and go within 5 years. Certain policies have changed and some perks whittled away over the time I've been there which really hurts.

Top brass will wring their hands about turnover and loss of history etc but not seem to grasp or care about why it happens.

Fire chiefs I know tell me that they are having trouble recruiting paramedics. Apparently a good number of them prefer the lousy pay, lack of benefits, crappy work conditions prevalent in the private ambulance industry over the pay, overtime opportunities, benefits, better schedule, and guaranteed pension in the fire service.

The service writer at the dealer told me that they can't find reliable help either.

I'm curious/guessing..and I have no strong feelings either way.

Is one union and one not? I'm wondering if some might not want to be in a union.

Some private services are union, most are not. Of course in normal times private services have been known to fire people when they are approaching maximum pay.

We had a younger couple down the road from us that hired a contractor to build a deck. They ended up having to fire them. Their next door neighbor who is a friend of of ours who is a retired contractor and I ended up finishing the deck as we're both retired. Out of square, out of plumb...we disassembled most of what was built.

The tunnel on Rt 28, McGrath Highway going into Assembly Row, was completely flooded by that quick massive shower. Probably like 4' deep.
I would have loved to drive it, but my fiance, and all the other honking and screaming drivers, convinced me otherwise. I feel like it would have been the perfect situation for all those with snorkels.

Yes, except the snorkel didn’t raise any of your electrical components or seal the cabin any better.

True. Wouldn’t everything be ok, minus the battery tho? At least for a quick dip?

Cabin makes sense, would expect water intrusion.
Totally forgot about this, lol. I could have hydro locked the engine, whoops.

I mean, worst case scenario, engine swap? Pull a MESO, LS, or 2JZ, lol

I would love a 2JZ. There's that guy ha swapped a 4runner with a 2jz and was doing the power tour and going drag racing. It was fast! Plus all the right noises

My first post in my MR on my 2016 said I wasn’t going all out, no lift, no changing the wheels and her here I am.

I had a setup done on one of my guitars because the intonation was a little off and I’m pretty sure it’s worse now than when I sent it out. Fret buzz for days.

I put a torque wrench on every bolt I touch. Doesn’t take my much, if any longer and I know I have nothing to worry abut.

Check the truss rod on it, if you sight down the neck you can visually see if it's got enough bend in it or if it's flat

The luthier did a truss adjustment. They claimed it was maxed out and did what they could. A quick search shows that’s unlikely, but I wasn’t about to push the issue. At this point if I go anywhere I won’t go back to the same place.

I’m also not a good enough player it matters. That being said I am very tempted by the Fender Tom Delonge signature Strat reissue. I wanted it so bad in 2002 I converted mine to run a Duncan Invader.

That's what the wife's car is for. Family and towing duty. Looks like ass so I don't care anymore. Just needs to be reliable. Only mods were band-aid fixes to rear air suspension and a cell phone mount lol

Truss rods are strange, luthier could've been spinning it in the wrong direction (I've seen it), but I also did my own setups so I was comfortable making those fuck ups lol. I'm not a strat guy but I do love a utilitarian, 1 pickup setup. My favorite is a LPJr single cut with a p90, feels so good to play and I don't have to think about sounds or tones it's just one (glorious) noise haha
