How much power does the 2uz make?

Would be pretty cool lol. Might as well get the LFA motor

With vvt-i it's about 300hp and 270lb/ft. It's the 4.7 v8

 

Not too shabby, any aftermarket support/tuning available for it?

 

Maybe. I know there once was a supercharger option for it

 

An old friend of mine hydrolocked his Integra GS-R. He ended up getting insurance to cover a new motor for him and used the money to get a JDM Integra Type R motor. The crossover sound was heaven.

 

I'd also consider a 1KD-FTV

 

Yup, you got that right, especially since Ian on his YouTube channel "Big Tire Garage" went over (mostly) the swap on his regular cab Tacoma, and got it running/driving with the factory 5 speed .

Edit: My Dad's 03 Tundra with a non-VVTi 2UZ was advertised with 245 hp and 315 ftlbs of torque, I know the later ones with VVTi made around 260 hp and 330 ftlbs. They can be plenty powerful in a Tacoma!

 

Yes Jared @crashngiggles pointed out the vids to me. I've watched both of them and since I have a blown head gasket I'm heavily considering it

 

Those of you with arb twins, what size bolts are the mounting holes? Starting to think about how I end get mine mounted up

 

I would absolutely love to buy my Dad's old Tundra back (my uncle bought it from him in 2018, and now it is sitting in his yard for the past 2 years) and perform the swap, but if I stay in RI for a few more years, I have to worry about emissions testing still, and that video series didn't show if he had any emission related issues (relating to it being fully functional), now that safety/emissions is tied into vehicle registration, and that our trucks are not at/over 25 years old.

 

Don’t remember at the moment, but we can take a look tomorrow.

 

Did you watch the hour and 15 min vid? I think he had something on the EVAP system. MA only emissions tests back 15 years so I'm good since mine is an 06

I did, and that's what really put a fire under my butt to actually try and do the swap. I did see the part about him working on the charcoal canister (I would have to rewatch to remember what he did, I can't remember) to get the EVAP system working correctly.

Sadly in RI, only vehicles 25 years and older are emissions exempt, so if I stayed in this state, all of the emissions systems would have to work (obviously with the check engine light off). I guess the only saving grace I have with my 05 is that other than the 4 continuous monitors, there are only 2 other monitors the truck cares about (EVAP and O2).

I think you're right, I don't see why the swap wouldn't be emissions friendly, since it seems like in the video the conversion harness he uses has the connections for the factory EVAP system. But ultimately, I would have to do ALOT more research before I pull the trigger on doing a V8 swap (along with getting the donor truck, buying all of the swap parts, finding a place to actually perform the swap...).

 

Yea that makes sense for your situation. I'll probably just slap a head gasket in mine to get it running better then start collecting parts
