I removed those annoying stickers on the sun visor.
My 2009 Tacoma could blast out your ear drums when playing a CD or radio, but was so quiet when using the auxiliary headphone jack, that some songs and podcasts were completely inaudible at highway speeds.

Now I'm noticing the same thing in my 2022 when using Bluetooth.

Why does Toyota insist on doing this? And is there any way to fix it?

I'll note that the same songs/podcasts get VERY loud when playing through Android Auto, so not all is lost, but it would be nice to not have to plug in a cable every time I get in the truck.

Have you played around with disabling Absolute Bluetooth Volume in Android Developer Options? Here is a link with more info and also how to enable Developer Options if you have not done so yet.

Is the volume on your phone all the way up?
If I remember correctly, whenever I plug in headphones or turn on Bluetooth the s20 kicks volume back to "safe" levels as default.

Glad to hear. There are also other cool settings in Developer Options. I like to toggle on Stay Awake while charging.
