Straight to the throttle body like factory. I have a cowl snorkel and no issue with smog. Just must have the OEM box

yep im a moron, typed before i thought. the throttle body requires no adapter (thus the TB stays in stock position) unlike other things im used to from various cars and whatnot. looks like i can just slap the oem stuff back on there, halfass while i drive slow staying out of boost to go get smog'd then im done.

Just for information. There is no legistration stating that the 2nd gen carb intake is going to fail with the supercharger and the supercharger going to fail with the intake. I have the 2nd gen trd intake with the maggy supercharger and I have passed smog multiple times with both.
The down side is the trd intake is about $450-500

welllll.. thats as may be, but the point is in order to get smog to pass, we have to show that it DOES have carb compliance, its not that the smog places have to show that it doesnt. jurisprudence in reverse. so if the TRD intake has a carb number then its fine.. otherwise its a no-go at probly 99.9% of places.

if anyone knows a smog place in the SD/LA area that is rather.. lax.. about this stuff then by all means, let me know. until then, pretty much all of us have the same experiences which is a certain nazi-ism about this stuff since these shops dont wanna lose their license.

Ok probably a dumb question but
I’m getting a belt squeal for a few seconds on startup lately. Where do I start for diagnosing it?
I’m running a 2.7" pulley with rip mod, Quickchange hub, Roostfactor wrap.

No, it is the smog techs job to look up that info for themselves. That changed a few years back.
But to get it done quick swap the stock box. Then you will have two years to figure out what way you want to got.

Stethoscope on all the pulleys to make sure it is not them. I think it was spray water on the belt and if it stops them its the belt.

Here are a couple more ARP Head Studs that may work for the 1GR, as they work for the 2GR and 3UR V8. Both have more thread engagement with the block, both are ARP2000.

The top stud is for late build 2006 and up 2AZ-FE, kit 203-4306. Overall length is about 6.7”/170mm, but again, most of that extra length is where we want it. Thread engagement is a generous 1.7”/43mm plus the nub.

The bottom stud is for the 3UR-FE, kit 203-4704. It measures 5.98”/152mm. Thread engagement is 1.45”/37mm. As far as I can find, the commonly used 5.95” stud has about 1.25”/32mm of thread, so the 5.98 won’t protrude as far past the nut when installed, but will grab deeper in the block.

Well the answer to that is easier to figure out than you might think. Who is currently out of commission first off, and secondly, who is not talking about their build. Because the ones who ARE talking about their build has not done this.

I wouldn't mind a full on rebuild, but I'm also not going out of my way to do that right now. My life is out of commission right now.

there was a way to override the tpms light but I'm not sure if it will work if it's a problem with the tpms receiver.

The way to override the light was to tap into a wire in the harness below the hvac controls. That wire needed like a 5v signal and the tpms dash light would shut off. I did it on my '08 and it worked.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/disabled-tpms-light-on-my-2008.93853/

Or pull the dash and gauge cluster and place some blackout tape over the tpms light?
