I would be curious to see that in action with the drill and cutter at work.

@Barsoom Looks like im getting some late black berries. Couple plants have green berries not a lot but one has some that will be ripe in a few days. Other berries have been ripe here and there. Any logic to them getting ripe all at once? Seems like they are all out of time for ripening.

No logic. We have a dozen bushes, and get a quart to 2 quarts at a time. Prep, and put them away in the fridge until we have enough for canning.
Once you pick them, let berries sit on the counter for half a day to cool down before you work on them. If blackberries are cooled too quick, they will turn red/pink: cool shock.
Once berries warm up, we use room temp water and lemon juice to clean them. Soak for 2 min. Worms and dry leaves will come up to the surface.
Hand scoop them into the drainer, leaving dirt on the bottom of the wash bowl. Store them in the fridge in the container with a couple of paper towels on the bottom of the container to catch extra moisture. This way they will keep for a while.

I took a short vid. Let me see if I can get it uploaded.

I got a big fig tree too and it's loaded this year. Nowhere near ripe yet though.

I have mangos. We don’t eat them because they’re turpentine’s. Give them away. I wanted to cut the tree down but then realized it provides shade for where I want my raised beds. So it is staying. I’ll let me cats deal with the rats and squirrels.

And been squashing these bastards every chance I get. I do a full inspection of plants every couple days, lift leaves and look things over. Been smashing the egg pods and adults when I find them. If it's later in the day I use a water jug to sprinkle the main stems and the bugs will run up when the water hits to show themselves. This morning I killed about 8 early and found most of them on top of leaves sunning. Am convinced my efforts have saved my squash and zucchini plants this season.

We haven’t had too many for quite a while . I remember putting multiple traps out and they filled up quick years ago . Just don’t put the traps near the garden . Supposedly the bait in there draws them from quite a distance. :pumpkin:
