I had Drivelines Inc in OC put a slip yolk in my rear driveshaft when they replaced the carrier bearing as well. Im hoping that this will be enough slip to work with links in the future.
Even my SOA "LT" with 12" shocks was enough to pretty much punch the carrier bearing forward and out of its place, bending the tabs too.

Yeah it’s crazy how much more plunge you need with leafs. On my links I think I’m less than 3/4” of total plunge across 21” of travel

Interesting, I would have thought the opposite for some reason.
But now that I actually think about it, leafs move a lot fore and aft throughout the travel because of the shackle. Links will obviously have some flue to the circular arc, but i suppose not much depending on design.

Can you explain this to a 5-year old?

Shock load happens constantly if you’re driving hard in the dirt. Driveline loads, unloads, loads, rinse and repeat. Every time it goes from unloaded to loaded it’s essentially smashing the splines together in the slip. Overtime it’s chewing itself apart.

    That’s my theory anyways.

Drove this thing in the sweltering heat yesterday. Pretty neat to finally drive this thing somewhere.

One thing people don't tell you about LT trucks, they're pretty stiff on the street. Granted, I haven't done a lick of shock tuning so I wasn't expecting anything but still.

It’s all in the tuning. Mine is butter on and off road. Tuning is literally everything with these trucks.

Yeah that’s what I’ve been told. I’m excited to get this thing dialed in.

Thanks. I understood your explanation as the axle/suspension cycling up/down.
When your driveshaft was new (or before SUA) was there much play in the splines of the slip yoke? Or do you think the play was caused specifically from your example(s)?
    Thank you.

Do you still have AC? Forgive me if it’s a dumb question, I can’t keep everyone’s trucks straight.

All the hardware is there, I just need to have lines made. AZ is too hostile to not have AC.

I don't understand drivelines other than the difference between a 1 piece and a 2 piece lol. Thats why I paid someone who was qualified (AZ Driveshafts) to build the entire front and rear driveline for me. I gave them my old tom woods 1 piece, and my stock front, and told them I don't care what they do, just make it as strong as possible and make sure it doesn't limit my travel in the rear.

That’s why I was asking. I’m over in west valley and it’s HOT. Even with AC blasting, it’s still hot in the truck. Can’t imagine driving around without it.

I used to have an '85 k10 without factory ac that I daily drove for a long time. Definitely don't want to do that again. Hopefully this giant GM compressor does me some favors and works a bit better than the smaller factory compressor.

Anyone have any experience with a digital gauge cluster? I wouldn’t mind consolidating my dash and ultra gauge with the ability to customize my dash and remove the dash lights I have lit up from installing a removable steering wheel.

it’s pretty far down on my to do list since I would prefer to cage it first, but definitely something I would prefer to do sooner than later if it’s worth it.

It’ll be so worth it when you’re in the drivers seat over some whoops though !
