Read a few threads of people being able to fit 285s on the TRD pro's with the 1inch lift, with only minimal adjustments needed. Given that the trail edition has a 1.1" lift and basically trd pro wheels (same offset), they should fit similarly well. Is there anything I might be overlooking before attempting this?

I'm running 265/75r16 on 16x8 -12 wheels and I rub the mud flap. I would need to cut if I were to go up to 285s

I believe the smaller stock wheel and lack of mud flaps should help a bit with clearance.

Yes: Upper control arms, wheel offset, cab mount chop, and plastic trimming. People who say 285s don’t rub on stock trucks are people who haven’t hit a hard enough trail yet.

Just because they don’t rub on the drive home from the tire shop doesn’t mean they won’t rub when the right front tire is 3 ft above the left front in a full lock turn.

I rubbed my fender liner with 265/70/17s backing out of a slightly steeper than flat driveway at full crank. People that “don’t rub” with 285s just aren’t doing the right thing.

What wheel offset were you using?

Appreciate the responses, but still curious as to how many were able to make it work on the pros.

Sounds like that was the culprit.

I wonder if those that rub have readjusted the castor to compensate for the 285s or did they just slap them on? also, did they have mudflaps?

When it's time for me to replace my tires, I'm pretty sure that I'll be going with the 285s, my only issue is I'd rather not go with E rated tires. I don't rock climb, just sand and dirt, I'd rather have the softer sidewalls of D or even C rated tires but I haven't found 285s in 16 inch that aren't E rated.

    Keep us posted!

Now take it to Utah or Colorado and run it down a 4/10 rated trail.

Why, does just fine on the beaches and dunes on the beaches of North Carolina and for my purposes.
