Guys, I've been looking at an unhealthy amount of information about land and pole barns/barndominiums. At this stage I may need an intervention...send help.

Hmm, need more information. Not sure if intervention or encouragement is the proper way forward here. We're here to help. :D

I'm leaning more to encouragement, wouldn't it be cool to walk out your back door and be in your shop.

Speaking of intervention, I’m sitting here by the campfire at my favorite site at Tigerton, again. I’m beginning to be a bit of a regular, and not sure if I should inquire about leasing this site long term lol.

Came with my sisters family, and my brother in law’s neice’s family, who have a beautiful unsullied Gladiator. This guy is an absolute stickler for clean shiny cars, but once he got a taste, he was all over it…couldnt stop him from trying everything. His daughter was actually worried that “daddy’sncar is so dirty now” haha. Gladiator sullied…mission accomplished.

I didn’t take many pictures, but I got a screen grab of me getting properly stuck on the steep side of the rock across from boulder bridge. Got a little cocky now that I have the 285/70s. The entry was deeper than the last time, and my hitch dug in to where backing up was impossible, and I didnt have enough traction to climb. Eventually wiggled my way off the side lol. No damage besides a scrape on the back (not under) of my rear bumper. So I kind of like that because everyone will know I wheel bro…cuz if you can tag the back side of your bumper climbing a hill…

Also, for the first time, I got to use my traction boards AND ultimately the winch to pull out my BIL after he high centered. Good times all around.

Oh yeah, and my squirrel cooker is capable of full-on catering duty!

My new skid plates hopefully will be ready for pickup tomorrow or tuesday. Once I install them, I can see somehow ending up right back here for a trial run before the august tigerton trip! Just to make sure they work…:D

Damn, you are a regular there now! Do they offer a season trail pass? I'd be in on that and take off a bunch of Mondays next year. Sundays and Sunday nights there are great!

I had a fairly productive weekend. I got new speakers installed in the garage, which was great yesterday when the rain chased us in there. Grilled some steaks and got drunk with the neighbors. Good times.

Today I got an oil change done on the truck and changed the air filter and some other clean up stuff. I'm getting more efficient with removing and replacing the skid plates with each oil change. I also got a start on installing the new Auxbeam switch panel. Ran into a snag trying to figure out how to mount the fuse and relay box under the hood. @Camerasandcoffee has my back on that though and we have a custom mount plan. Thanks again Jonathan! For now, here's the panel inside. Perfect fit here and a blank switch spot in the right place! I may still notch out the blank and put it back in around the cable.

They really are. Saw one bike and one quad all day on the trails. Oddly though I neighbors on both sides tonight. They must also be in on the secret.

I feel this, all I've been doing the past 2 months is fixing my new shitbox CR-V so I can take the Taco offline for maintenance. I don't like working on it - nothing is difficult, but mostly it just consists of me breaking every plastic clip in sight. It's boring, I don't like it. But for now it's good enough and has become my daily - and probably not leaving me enough time to fix the truck before next week's trip. Not giving up yet though.

    20230722-tacoSilverFleet-01.jpg

As others have said no intervention needed, only encouragement. Never stop dreaming. If you need an accomplice for bank robbery I'm your Huckleberry. I ponder the same thing quite often. My vision is usually more of a small one-story house with 2-car attached garage and then a big shop outside with a lift, full HVAC, and room for actually doing work. And level concrete, oh my god do I need level concrete in my life. I will do terrible, unspeakable things for money to have level concrete.

Dude that looks like an awesome trip, glad you had a good time!!

    =====

Meanwhile, finally playing with my rear bumper and having problems. I think I'm 0-for-2 on Tacoma bumpers, I feel cursed. Just doesn't quite line up correctly. Giving the vendor a chance, emailed them and waiting to see what they say. Maybe my eyes just need calibration.

So much going on in this post... I am going to start at the bottom and go up:

The bumper. I guess you need to decide on what your trucks about: show or go. My two cents. They will never get it perfect-they are hand building those things and don't have million ton presses knocking out cookie cut parts. Looks pretty close in the image to me-Is it bolted on at this point? I built mine and I am the only one who cares about the imperfections (especially since I managed to bend it some last summer...) My wife said this to me after a couple years into owning the Taco; "You'll have more fun if you use the truck as it's intended. No one cares that it is clean or if it has scratches except you. No one even sees the dents. Just get it fucking dirty." A moment of clarity from the chemistry professor... although I think she might rue the financial turn that statement has led me down.

Level concrete won't shed water... I also want some concrete; however, so far (if the last 58 years are to be trusted) that will never happen. Go get it now. Seriously (you too Pat) because if you wait you'll just get old without nice concrete!

CR-v's are uninspiring automotive transportation. But, pretty easy to work on. And... seemingly reliable.
