1st gen injectors

I am new here, and I would very much appreciate any help. I bought a 2002 Toyota Tacoma pre runner 2.7. I have had issues with it at idle. When it’s cool weather first thing in the morning it will crank up and run good. But if it’s sitting out in the sun and it’s 100 degrees out side it is hard to start, it will spin over but I have to hold the pedal to the floor to get it to crank. If I try to let it idle it goes dead but long as keep the rpm’s up it will run. And does okay at 55mph. But will go dead coming to a stop. Sorry if I didn’t explain it well. Also I pulled the injectors and part number

23250-75040 was in the truck. I ordered a new set of denso injectors and the part number on those are

$70 23250-75080 4Pcs

23250-75080. I put the new ones in and it won’t crank at all. Thanks in advance for any help

 

What was your reasoning for replacing the injectors? Is the check engine light on? Did you pull the codes?

By crank you mean now the engine does not turn over when you turn the ignition to start ??

What if any codes have you pulled??

Mileage ?? Did you go so far as to give it a good tune up ?? How did the plugs look?

The truck started and drove well for your pre purchase road test and inspection??

 

I had one injector clog up on my V6 and it would barely idle. I bought refurbished set, some worked some didn't. I changed injectors three times that weekend. There's a simple way to test injectors, I think with one of those square 9V batteries, vids are there to look view.

 

I have changed fuel pump, fuel filter, cats, o2 sensors, aic valve, mad sensensor, plugs, cleaned throttle body, new gaskets on intake manifold, and throttle body.

Injectors came off of eBay but were Toyota name brand.

By crank I mean engine spins over but has a hard time getting it to stay running. If it’s cool outside it will run fine. If it’s hot it won’t. I just can’t figure it out.

the only codes I get is a lean code sometimes. But truck smells like it’s flooding.

truck has 200,564 miles.

 

I'm not familiar with that engine but, what about the fuel pressure regulator?

The part number on the injectors that were in the truck go to a 1996 to 2000 model from what I can tell. Mine is a 2002, when I put the injectors it calls for in it it won’t run. Why would the previous owner put the wrong injectors in it? And why would it not run with the right ones?

 

Quite possible at one time the engine was changed.

If I am recalling things correctly, there have been some TW members who have received bootleg denso injectors from both ebay and Amazon. @CS_AR do you have a link to a thread or more info on this topic?

 

Like @Bivouac said, they couldve swapped an engine from another year. Just curious which one looks like your intake manifold?

 

It’s the 8 port I’ll upload pictures later today. And I’ll send the link later. Would the maf sensor, o2 sensors, fuel pressure reg need to be from an 02 or older model? Thanks for the help guys. This is the most info I have gotten yet

$50 for all four injectors? I don't know much about injectors but I'm going to guess those are fake...

 

Do you have a close-up photo of one of those? Particularly of the markings on the injector. The way to part number was molded into it.

You must have the 95-99 engine then, 100% swapped

 

So what all parts will interchange between the two motors? I’ve put a lot of new parts on here and I bought all parts thinking it was a 2002. And I will get a close up of the injectors later today when I get home from work

Someone else might know.

I would need to sit down and compare after market part numbers.

Toyota has changed part numbers between years for the same part. Numbers get superseded enough to get tedious looking up many parts.
