Seems like a lot of the issues are coming from 2017s made in Mexico (VIN starts with 3)

I revisit this thread every few months and definitely bums me out Toyota isn’t doing anything. My 2014 is getting pretty bad.

I wonder if we all did a sort of “group buy” from a paint shop it would make it worth while to just repaint the entire cab.

would be cool to find a reputable mom and pop type place and give them business for the next 3+ years haha it seems there are hundreds of tacomas with the exact same issue :notsure:

Yep. Front of hood, under hood, front fenders on the inside, rear passenger door. Toyota says to take a hike.

I sure wish Toyota would own the super white paint issue on Tacomas, as they have on other Toyota and Lexus models. I just got my truck back yesterday after having the rear door on the driver’s side repainted. Same door on driver’s side, fuel door, and front were repainted last year. Toyota paid 3/4 under their goodwill program last year, but nothing this time. Still hope to recoup my $1500 at some point.

    Yes please!
A friend’s and mine both have had this for a few years now (both 2016s). Another friends 2019 hasn’t started peeling yet. It seems to peel off to a point then stop. Blowing paint chips off with a water hose, um blows. o_O

I have been driving Toyotas exclusively form over two decades. My wife has had Toyotas since 1985. After we got the cold shoulder on my paint failure, she bought a new Honda...There might be a message here for Toyota.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Honda also has had issues with clear coat and white paint.

What's everyone doing as a band-aid once the paint chips off??
My drivers side rear door has it in the typical spots like all the pics posted.
    That was last April.
Now in the engine bay is starting to do it as well. :frusty:

I'm just using the factory touch up paint. It's not the best look, but it has at least slowed the peeling/chipping in those areas.

How about someone way more technical than I post a link for all Tacoma Owners (White Paint) with failing paint contact in mass Toyota to let them know this is a big issue
for all owners. Set up a time frame of a week or? Big Numbers! The paint on my 06 is failing on several areas.

Those other car brands aren't having issues as early though. There's guys on here with 3 year old Tacomas with paint issues.

Toyota knows the issue too whitch is sad they won't help. My 23 has the same paint code but the process is now different, they actually add clear coat now. It's no longer a single stage process.

Is there a source that states a different process with added clear coat for 2023’s?
