So my chain is sticking to the chainring occasionally then coming up and locking up the drivetrain every now and then. I’m assuming one of the teeth on that chainring is likely bent just enough to keep holding?

or I really need to clean my chain lol

Also I bought a used fox proframe and new pad inserts for a total of 80 bucks to use for big pedal rides where I’ll still get crazy and want a full face. This thing doesn’t even feel heavier than my half shell. Quite lovely.

and I could lend it to a buddy if they need a fullface on shuttle days or bike park. Always doing what I can to encourage my friends to ride so I don’t mind

    not enough.
called chainsuck i believe. yeah, usually it's chainring wear. Probably just need a new chainring. cleaning the chain and lubing it will help to a certain degree but it'll be back. unfortunately.

proframe is a great option. I have one for the enduro riding. Some people will argue that for bike park days, you should get a proper full face dh version. But depends on how you feel about it. I've been fine with it. Congrats! it'll be a good time!

Where do y’all order stronger deraulluer hangars from. Today I did 4 hours of bike park on a brand new hangar. Didn’t hit it on anything. Didn’t ride a single tech trail. Only jump lines today. Didn’t bump it on a rock. And it just sheared off. again.

The last one only lasted 3 days. I only had 2 cased jumps today. And they’re pretty harsh bottom outs since I can’t get this damn dpx2 to not bottom out too much. I think I need a coil with high speed and low speed compression adjustments to get more ramp up. This dpx 2 just has a 3 position compression lever and obviously for descending I want to run it full open, and I’ve already got 65 pounds over riding weight in it… pics to come

I like Wheels Mfg but since the hanger is a sacrificial part, you also have to ask what might break as a result of making it stronger.

Well. Bike shop I use is rad and they’ve 1000% earned me as a repeat customer. They comped the new hangar and re adjustment today as well as re fixing my dropper because they thought it just needed cable adjusted but they took it apart and realized the piston wasn’t being activated and fixed that up.

guy gave me his employee price on a new chainring and actually gave some insight to a 30 tooth instead of 32 which for me is what I want. Plus chit chat about reno/truckee and all that kinda stuff too.

I’ll order a northsore billet hangar or two. The guy at the shop uses those on his current gen Rallon and used it on the old one and swears by it so that’s good enough for me

From the photo in your other post, looks like the links on your chain are stuck. That could be causing issues described above. Just rotate cranks til that section of chain is between the bottom derailler pulley and the chainring, grab on either side, and bend the chain back and forth laterally. That should free it up. And yeah, clean it and lube it.

If you have renter's or mortgage insurance, check with the company to confirm if bikes are covered, or that they are not excluded (or have a limit placed on value). If there is no exclusion listed, the policy should cover them. Some policies cover them but have limits on high value stuff like bikes, jewelry etc. You will be subject to whatever deductible applies. If you don't have renter's insurance, I would look into it. Not expensive. You can also buy separate policies or riders for a bike.

Not true, at least in my experience. Auto coverage is for theft, fire, collision, liability, comprehensive for the car and anything that gets damaged in a car accident. That is the only time contents of a vehicle might be covered by auto as far as I know (not positive on that, even). Not sure if a car burned if auto would cover it or if even that would be renter's.

If it's theft of personal property like a bike, it would be covered by your renter's or homeowner's insurance even if that stuff is stolen from your vehicle - regardless whether a bike is stolen off a bike rack or from inside a car. When my truck got broken into on a road trip and a bunch of stuff taken, I had to file an auto claim for the broken window and a claim on my renter's insurance for the stuff that was taken. A friend left his bike in his car overnight and it got stolen. He assumed auto policy would cover it and the other stuff taken...it didn't. He didn't have renter's insurance, and was SOL. Renter's will also cover stuff stolen away from your home. When my bike got stolen while it was locked up outside a store, it was covered by renter's insurance. Make sure you have adequate contents coverage and that bikes aren't excluded, and you should be good. And as mentioned, getting full replacement value is desirable.

The best thing of course is to not have your bike stolen at all. If it is, I'd think carefully about making a claim. It is tempting to do if the loss was an expensive bike. But it can bite you down the road. A lot of insurance companies will not insure you if you have two claims on renter's or homeowner's insurance in a five year period. State Farm declined to renew my policy after the second claim saying I was too big a risk. Doesn't matter if one is theft and the second is something home related like storm damage. I've heard that if you have a third claim in that period, no company will insure you. That becomes a huge issue if you have a mortgage, because every mortgage requires you to have insurance. I was able to find coverage with two claims, but the lowest rate was double what I paid before. I could have easily not made claims in either of those thefts and wouldn't have been out that much $$. Most stuff stolen was older and well used, I didn't need to replace all of it. The bike was an old but nice bike. I could have replaced it with a similar used bike for around the $1k deductible I paid, without making a claim. Had I known I'd not get renewed or that my rate would double I wouldn't have made the second claim for sure. Save the claims for when something catastrophic happens to your home. Especially if you've already had to make one claim in the last 5 years.

So a few of the teeth were chipped. And had an edge on the teeth. And it was basically gripping the inside of the chain and not letting go. It was 3 in a row so it’d happen almost every time.

Did you check if you have enough chain length at full bottom out?
