454 Motorsports is already on it. He got the new core support in and the fenders hung.

 

I ordered a sport hood and new hinges, since I dented the living hell out of mine.

 

How does it keep the OEM parking break since you have to remove or do you cut around the stock backing plate? Stock is larger. I have the SOS and brakes are great but the e brake is a joke.

 

I haven't installed it yet, but will be once I have the truck back and take the motor out.

I believe it comes with new backing plates.

 

if it is like all of the other disc conversions it does use a new backing plate and it does not use the oe ebrake parts at the axle it only uses the oe pedal and cables. the e-brake is a fraction of the power of the oe drums and it is honestly useless… it’s basica mini drum inside the disc rotor and it does not hold the truck at all. everyone that has done a rear disc conversion with one of these kits will tell you the same thing.

if you really want or need an e-brake you should throw away all of the e-brake parts in the kit and do an inline line lock set up etc

the e-brake is a massive pia to install too its like trying to build a drum brake by reaching through a 1” gap behind the axle wms and the backing plate

 

That’s because it’s not an ebrake, it’s a parking brake. Honestly I don’t even care if it’s a little worse. I’d trade having a good ebrake with shitty drums for discs and a parking brake.

yup …but what i’m trying to convey is that it’s not even a good parking brake it’s totally useless. with mine if it is adjusted properly and all the cable tension is spot on at the pedal it will still roll and the only thing actually holding the truck is the P pawl

I installed the original version disk conversion from SOS Performance. Much later on I installed a newer version on @Lucario Runner 's truck. His works much better than mine. At least that is the feeling that I get because I have not seen nor heard the complaints. Mine, I have to put in gear when on a few degree incline. His, hopefully he will answer.

The newest model Tacomas do come with rear disks. Maybe that will be the best option to source parts for the parking brake?

 

No issues with my parking brake. At first I had the no parking brake rear disk conversion as I had misunderstood what they meant by upgraded or improved. I then installed the version with the parking brake. It was good and I then readjusted it last year and has been better. Doesn't move when I load up a car or truck. Overall I am very happy with the kit and plan to upgrade to the st41 calipers later on post turbo install.

 

I wildly underestimated how broken my front end was.

Ordered a new grille and some extras as it was missing like 4 of the mounting tabs. Headlights have a missing tab here and there, but I'll just live with those. If I break them more I'll think about replacing them. The headlight fillers are broken too. He's starting work on the front bumper today. I'm super pumped to see this thing!

 

Shit, I just realized I'll be in Scottsdale in December. Maybe I'll see this thing roaming the streets.

 

I hope im daily driving this thing by then, lol.

 

Holy shit, the new hood already arrived. I ordered it the day before yesterday and it showed up at 10AM today.

 

But why isn't it on?!

 

454 has the truck still. I’m waiting on the new hinges to get here too, and the actual vent insert too.
