I'm hoping mine will hold out another 3 years. That's when I can take another 401K loan out. Probably will be $10K for a heat pump unit and new wiring... o_O

I got a heat pump water heater through my electric company a few years ago. I think I got a couple hundred discount at the time but the kicker was a 60-70 decrease in my electric bill monthly

    Good luck w your plans!

That’s very true… I know Alabama Power even had a showroom and allowed you to finance via your monthly bill. We have Entergy here and it’s pretty basic. But they do have some incentives via rebate. However, some of the brands will finance and will kick in an extended warranty as part of it. American Standard financed ours and kicked in a 10 year full coverage warranty (no deductible). It’s long expired and I need a new one… they kicked the can on it to get me to the winter, where it’s easier on everyone.

Good morning shop time friends :pccoffee:
I've been very busy both at home and work as usual.
My dad has a brand new (used one day) window shaker AC unit laying on the living room floor. He anticipated the central AC repair to take longer than it did. Of course he'd like to sell it but doubt he ever will, he wants new price on stuff just like his 40 yr old table saw he'll never use again.
    Morning meeting time.
    Good day all.

    Good morning everyone :hattip:

    ROW update:
Atty #2 concurs with our conclusions.

Going to court will cost tens of thousands of $,,,, I’m hoping the letter he’s drafting is effective.

On the title insurance refusal to open a case, NH law requires any action on our part to be started within 6 months. We may have to sue them for coverage if the letter isn’t effective (this would be to cover the $ above…)

    Good morning guys

I like that AC unit. They weren’t making that type when I bought my window unit. Wow, thinking about it now it must be 15-20 years old. If/when it gives up the ghost I’ll get one like yours.

Good luck with this, it does sound like a cluster.

I had one of those portable AC units in the early 2000's. It wasn't necessary for very long in WA, but working nights and sleeping days in late July could be nearly impossible with it.

In another episode of free stuff Wednesday...

During morning coffee I usually catch up on some YouTube videos, Rainman Ray's Repairs is a good one, he's a mechanic doing typical mechanic things on a variety of vehicles. Recently, he was using little clamps to picnch off rubber brake lines while changing out a caliper. I've seen them before, but I've always either used vice grips, or had the other caliper ready for a quick swap.

I figured I'd rummage around and see what I could find to make a set. I found some left over brackets from my plastic shed and a small chunk of aluminum bar.

As usual, there was nothing picture worthy along the way. It doesn't exactly rival the Tesla swap thread, but hey... it gave me something to do and was free!

Then I mowed what we call the campground, which has a trail leading to the snowmobile trail, which currently looks like this...

Doesn't look like much, but the far tree in the bottom picture is a big one.

Nice !! I like my smooth jaw vice grips which live in the brake tools drawer.

Look carefully o_O, it started life as a 4 door sedan...

    s-l1600.jpg

The Firedome was a brand new model for 1953, powered by a Hemi V8 engine displacing 276 cubic inches (4.5 liter for the :canada: folks) and generating 160 HP with a 2 barrel carburetor.

This was a big deal for DeSoto being their first V8 since 1931.
DeSoto was a division of Chrysler BTW.

It’s like driving around in a hot tub :D

    Good morning everyone :hattip:

More severe storms might be coming this way… I hope you’re safe where you are  Be careful out there.

Kinda related, anyone else dealing with a plague of mosquitoes this summer? All day, doesn’t matter if it’s high noon, they’re swarming.

Skeeters thick here as well. I've been rotating quarterly Cutters "backyard bug control" and Triazicide from Spectracide that I just drench my yard in usually after a good rain. It seems to help. Always using nitrile gloves when spraying that crap.
