    Depends on your age IMO.

I work in real estate (escrow), I wouldn't advise selling now unless you can find a buyer who would be willing to pay enough to come out positive. Would depend just how much you overpaid/how much the market has affected your house value, but I'm still seeing lots of homes here in SoCal selling over asking, have only seen one short sale since the market started slowing down from where it was last year. Bay Area market isn't too different from what I hear from friends up there both in the industry and not.

But if you guys want kids, and the clock is ticking for the wife, it may be worth it to take the loss and move elsewhere to make that goal happen.

As for myself, knowing the process and costs of home buying, and how the market currently is with no real predictors of how it's going to go, as well as some issues with my current job, I've pretty much resigned myself to not being able to buy for another decade at least unless I move states. Which I really don't want to but.

because of the pants not fitting outside?

I followed the videos you shared with me btw on breaking in the boots, and also spent a couple more hours just walking and jumping around in them over the weekend. they feel much better now, thanks!

@BkerChuck How does your bike always look like it's just been washed in your pics? Do you trailer it to all of those murals?!?

Idk if i want kids. Yes and no, but I know ill be broke. Just got married 2 years ago. Clock is ticking for wife, as shes 4 years older than me..

Plan is to pay it off in next 4 years, then move somewhere cheaper and farther from city with some land. And at same time save for a 20% down on a 400k house.

Fortunately, the red sticker thing isn’t an issue here in AZ. I believe that I can plate it as well. Not that I’d be doing any street riding. Maybe just crossing a road or whatever.

It does sound like a fun bike to me as well. Nice and lightweight. Shorter seat height embarrassingly will help me out a bit. I rode my 400 XCW out here for years and loved it. Lots of single track and narrow trails. I sold that bike a few years ago while I was going through some health issues that affected my balance. It’s time to get back on a bike and go play.

Trailer? Do you see a Harley in those pictures? :crapstorm:

It's actually pretty dirty in most of them. That color hides the dirt amazingly well. It's also ridden in the rain more than most so it gets washed by Mother Nature more than by me. It's also just about to turn 60k on the odometer but thanks for the compliment!

I think with the Forma, i just rode. Maybe because they're mostly leather, get them wet and then ride? Or ride to a stream, take walk in stream, then ride until they are dry.

Mine are really nice after a few thousand miles.

Speaking of shift levers, rode to work today, and because I adjusted my lever, now it feels weird to shift while wearing sneakers. @cynicalrider was right!

I just had this conversation with a friend. There are days I'm tired of my old K100 and think about selling it and buying something newer. Something with more tech, ABS, heated grips, cruise control would be nice. It's hard to do, though, because I know this bike...know how it runs, know how it rides, know its capabilities. Tough to leave that comfort zone. And all that fancy tech on the new bikes brings complexity and a concomitant reduction in my ability to be a shade tree mechanic. And then, when I consider that to get a similar bike today would be pushing me well in to the 20k price range, well, no bueno. So, I guess I futz around with my malfunctioning temp gauge, replace the battery and just keep going on it.

I'm willing to bet you'll be able to adjust the lever back down eventually once you are fully used to the boots where you can have it be good for the boots and the sneakers. I don't think I adjusted the husky like I did the DRZ when I got it because at that point the boots felt super natural. Or maybe they were finally broken in and I just forget how stiff they were originally. I got a size 13 too so def a big toe box. The husky's shifter is also kinda aggressively large though so maybe that helps me? It's funny how little changes can affect feel so much. I have new fast way foot pegs I need to put on before next weekend and I am so nervous they are going to throw my feel totally off.

Chuck, I’m trying to figure out what you’re using for a top case/mount and stiffener (if applicable). I wanted the Yamaha 50L with a backrest, but they seem to be impossible to find right now. Yours clearly has a Yamaha logo on it.

I’ll settle to be pointed towards a build thread if you have one.

Asking here rather than PM in case someone else finds this helpful.

    Thanks.

Forgive me for laughing about this.....but....

That's a Yamaha factory logo on a Givi SR357 rack....LOL. Friend of mine gave me the rack very cheaply as it was missing the spacers and hardware required to mount it and one of the Givi logos was missing. I was able to have correct spacers fabbed up here at work and get the needed hardware. I removed the other side Givi logo and since they wouldn't sell me a single logo I found an appropriate sized Yamaha logo on Amazon and glued them on. Looks factory doesn't it? I run the Givi 56 liter top box when I need.

mine is similar but doesn’t look it since the pegs mashed up.

    IMG_4598.jpg

It’s also more comfy to shift standing vs sitting at this height.
