Last time I measured was on a road trip from Windrock TN back to PA. I was between 15 to 15.5MPG
I went non-stop from Bristol TN to Carlisle Pa it was something like 420 miles.
Personal distance record for a non-stop trip, essentially the entire length of I-81 through Virginia.

That was back when I wanted to know the numbers. I don't pay much attention to it anymore.

I put fuel stabilizer in now considering I filled up the truck only twice last year.

I should probably do that. Instead I’m only filling 5 gal at a time, lol.

I took the tank to install myself although its just sitting on the shelf of my garage at the moment. Should have had Shaffers install too. lol

Hrm. Not a project for this year, but maybe next.

Irony being that the trip I would most want it for is this September.

I still say it’s my favorite modification to the Tacoma. I’m sure I’ll miss that range when the Tacoma sells.

I’ll say it’s my third favorite mod after the crawl box and Flippac. :D

There’s a lot to be said for the extended range and piece of mind.

If I had a crawl box I probably wouldn’t want to sell it. I had a Drifter for a bit. But it doesn’t appear to be anything my wife wants to participate in so I think it’s time to let someone else have fun with it. Plus, the Gladiator is just such a capable truck right off the showroom floor. I’d love to have an LRA tank for my diesel…

Keep us posted. At rpm garage right now hoping for some magic on an alignment (more caster), since big o tires would only do within factory specs

LRA tank install completed. Took way longer than expected but they were also expecting a factory/stock truck
30+ gallons, can’t wait to see what the range is.

For me personally, a lot more than it would be for someone with a stock Tacoma.
At $150/hr for labor, it was 20 hours in my case, for MY truck.
That included: removal of the GFC, removal of JDf cross bar, removal of my CBI rear bumper (all to remove the bed) & modifications to the JDf frame brace kit. I would expect they could do it in 6-8 hours with a ‘factory-like’ Tacoma.

They charged me 8hrs the first install. Cruiser bros installed as I was driving through California when I bought it. That included removing topper and bed slide. I later replaced fuel pump and had to do the job myself. That took 16-18hrs over three days. But that also included time repainting with rhino-liner and the fuel pump shenanigans. Not too bad. One DIYer can do it alone, with the right tools.

How you liking it so far? I’m thinking about this too for Mammoth runs. Interested in how the stays on E but has 6 gallons left feels. Especially on hills

It sloshes around so I don’t really like to keep it on the light for too long. I installed a hydramat (I have an aftermarket fuel pump) to help with this but I still had one trip home up a hill where it shut off on me twice. Luckily I ran out of gas on my driveway (steeper than the street). This particular day we were getting heavy snow downpour so the road was extra bumpy.

I haven’t emptied my tank to that point yet. And maybe I will have to wait another week or so to do range testing. Or maybe I won’t. Heading to Lucerne this weekend but that will be a mix of highway and dirt driving. Won’t be the most accurate. I’ll post numbers here but I’m at 13.5mpg on a good day.
