I would bet there is a neutral between forward and reverse.

I have a Troy Built tiller from about 1971.

Weight is an advantage with a tiller, the heavier the better.
As far as lifting it - don't.

I have idled mine up ramps into many truck beds before I got a trailer, with the engine at slow idle and in lowest gear the machine should be easy to control.

I have a set of these folding ramps I got from TSC years ago. The perforated surface gives a pretty secure grip.

I just realized Home Depot ships through my employer. I wonder how many of them tillers are gonna come through the building. I forget what the weight limit we deal with is.

    Edit: 150lbs, so probably not...

''Weak and Slow Shipping.'' Motto, if we can't lift it, we'll drag it behind the truck.

    ;)

I think shipping is by freight. The one I ordered is 217 lb's.

    ^^^^^ This.

we always had Troy built tillers that looked a lot like those, except they had a big lever for forward, nuetral, reverse. you dont pick em up. you raise the times with the lever in the back & then drive em up onto the truck or trailer.

heavier is better. let the tiller do the work. we even had the snow plow for ours. cleaned that driveway 100's of times that way when was a kid.

    great machines!

Now I am thinking about ordering the heavier one :annoyed: might also try to find a used Troy built instead.

I've been doing some checking on YT for reviews, and I do think the bigger one is worth the extra $20. I just checked, and they now have 1131 units available for the RTG $199 model.
Legend Force 20 in. 212 cc Gas Rear Tine Tiller, Forward/Reverse LF20212RTG - The Home Depot

Now I'm wondering whether I cancel the order for the smaller one now, wait until I get it and take it back to HD, or hang on to it until the spring and see if I can sell it for a few bucks more than I paid for it.

Edit: From the reviews looks like HD was selling these units for $559 and $659 last year and this spring.

If you're doing small trimming jobs around the house or for emergency use on the trail, yes. If you are cutting cords of wood to heat your house, no.

Holy S..... I didn't believe this unit was really only $200. I bought a Troy Bilt Super Bronco tiller from Tractor Supply at the beginning of 2023, it seems comparable to this unit, and it cost me a hell of of a lot more than $200............. :spending::bananadead: Trouble is, the closest Home Depot to me is Lexington - 100 miles away.

Definitely, Yes. Especially if you can find one that uses a battery setup you already have. Dewalt makes a small saw that uses their 20v or 60v batteries. I've got a bunch of those, so I've been looking for a deal. The batteries are the real expense of cordless tools!

I got the smallest model Makita 18 volt saw with a 10" bar this spring.

    Game Changer !

How many times have you had one branch to cut and decided the gas saw wasn't worth the hassle?
With the battery job you are done before you even would have the fuel mixed.

Obviously if you are cutting firewood it is the wrong tool but for the around the yard chores it is unbeatable.
The top handle style is referred to as an Arborist chainsaw, useful for climbing trees -- I ain't climbin' no tree ;) but really like the saw, you can use it with one hand if needed. It is just under 21" long.

    I run the Dewalt 20v w/12" bar.

Works fantastic for living & pruning.
