I was debating this except the price is what’s holding me back at the moment and trying to figure out if the 20 gallon fuel cell I have now would work in that exact location.

It’s a simple 20 gallon cell, depth of 10 inches and the deepest part of the sump is 11.5. 20x24 inches so it’ll fit in between the rails in the same fashion. Run a line from the sump to a y tap ill installed on the filler neck and in between that I’ll have a pump wired so it can push fuel on command. Install a breather and a roll over check valve, run a ground strap from it to the frame for OCD precautionary measure.

seems easy enough? I feel like I’m missing something.

The GM tank they spec for the kit is only $250...no point in trying to piece together something like you are trying to do if someone makes a kit like this IMO

after adding up all the stuff you need to buy, it was about 1700, maybe closer to 2,000? I added it up earlier this year before deciding to just bite the bullet and start saving for the 3 link and shocks and upgrade some stuff along the way to not lose motivation. It’s not the worst or most expensive. But it did seem a bit much for what you’re getting.

If $2000 is a lot for you, a cage, 3-link and this whole hobby might be too much for you

I’ve already dropped 15k into my truck and saving up 10k for the rear, I’m trying to make sure when I spend money that it’s a worth while upgrade so it doesn’t needlessly take away from other things I could be doing to the truck. I might work on vehicles for a living but not trying to write blank checks lol.

    Whole lotta stuff
I think it’s 10k just in parts. More depending on axle choices. And not including shocks.

10k is basically a complete Camburg axel in today’s economy
7ish for coilover and bypasses for the rear
1000-2000 for a decent fuel cell with bladder
    Then 10-15k for the cage
Then probably 2-3k in plumbing and wiring

    snowball asf

    Hell
Links alone are 3500-6000 depending on brand and mig/tig

It’s been snowballing for 3 years since Covid for me, I thought I could get this built for under 20k when the world was in lock down and only after I spent 10k on just the front suspension I realized how sorely mistaken I was. I’m not going full trophy truck build though, 3 link the rear, cage the cab, box the rear frame, bed cage for the shocks. After that I will decide where I want to go or stop throwing money at the project. It’s got to be able to haul a sofa for me and load 2 kids so it has to walk a fine line between practical and toy status. Plus I could never justify buying another truck to haul my truck.

looking back I should’ve just bought a RAZR but it’s been fun.

You’re literally talking 100k+ if you can’t do the work yourself. Practical does not fit anywhere in your plans.

Good thing I work on cars for a living and do it all myself lmao, I know the hole I’m in and the depth I have to go. I feel like everyone on here just assumes everyone wants a Baja truck and doesn’t work on vehicles and has no comprehension of possible money pits associated with a project. If you don’t have a plan and a spending limit you shouldn’t have a project vehicle.

rear triplets and coil overs: 3550
Dirt designs 3 link kit: 3500
    DMZ frame box kit: 280
Misc materials, pipe for bed cage for shocks and limit straps: 1000
    King bump stops: 700
eventual cost to get shocks tuned: 850-1050

Selling old king bump stops and king shocks will negate some of this cost but never commit to a build until you have it in cash before you start. Cab cage fiasco will be a 2025 issue or later.
