I just don't get why people buy rusted vehicles

 

Mine has a metric fuck ton of surface rust. Nothing detrimental, mostly cosmetic. Working on mitigation now. Not all of us have access to clean CA vehicles. Mine was okay, but spent a few years in Central Oregon and tons of mountain pass trips over that time. The salt definitely took it's toll.

Before (mostly dirt, bust some pitting)...

 

Meant to say, CA is so big that often times supply is high enough to keep prices down.

I've compared a few makes/models (Toyota specifically) on FB Marketplace with other states (where rust is possible) and it blows my mind how similarly priced they are...if not higher.

Yours looks really minor, easy to take care of and you did

No way, I mean unless it's rusted to where it's broken then yes.

But plenty of partially-rusted frames (with seized parts it looks like) asking for the same amount of money as Cali for instance LX470's or 100 series Land Cruisers.

 

Yep. I hate servicing east coast vehicle. Rusty bolts, knowing full well they will snap

 

That's the worst.

I've had a seized bolt before, and have snapped off a head or two on stuff.

But never dealt with actually rusted parts; I'd be in there with my plasma cutter just slicing everything off

We will say the truck is not bad it has potential. From What your used to seeing the response is run away screaming.

I see frames that will fail the Pa inspection sellers asking around $ 10,000.00

Here where i am the climate is just damp .

Steel in the rack inside will rust from the climate never seeing weather .

Regional markets have strange prices.

What you see as a rare thing to happen is Normal to me.

Those Irwin sockets for rounded hardware are used often .

6 point sockets are a given.

If that bolt doesn't come off with a standard 6 wall socket and at most, a short breaker bar, I'm pissed.
