from what I can gather so far there is a lot of fuss about the fan shroud fitment and someone stripped out the drain plug. I think the drain plug could happen to anyone on any brand. I just want to know if the build quality is better with one brand over the other.

From what I have seen (granted I don't own one, have no skin in that proverbial game, and have no pressing need to run a built radiator over OE currently) the build quality amongst the 3-4 current players in the radiator for Tacoma game are all the same.

I got the csf Tacoma as it was the hot one and others were not out yet. fitment if the shroud is shit. You have to add a seal. Seems to a common thing as moshimoto included one when they came out with theirs outside of that it’s been solid. If your an auto I would suggest upping the trans cooler. Not sure if the caf has extra capacity for the trans but my truck needed all the cooling it could get. I added a fanned trans cooler which has been great. Kicks on when it hits 180 and helps cool it off if it’s shooting past. I may increase the trans cooler size as well.

I think they are all similar. Mishimoto looks more polished with so of their components and includes the proverbial seal for the shroud. I would give that a hard look if ai did it again. Plus they always do deals.

I'll be sure to ask but highly doubtful it'll be the same results. The nomad valve body is most likely aggressive down under with the modified actuation so it applies the lock out in 1st gear. Not sure why you would need lock out in 1st but the site mention for crawling. Not really necessary for me but if it locks out 2nd/3rd gear where there's actual usable torque, I'll be happy. But I'm aware there's some dune heads that love their 1st gear

yah def curious. the ratio tek HD locks down pretty hard and figured much of people's valve body jobs are them doing the work rather than us installing. They will def say no since they likely only test and brand their valve bodies but I only have experience with the ratiotek.

them aussies do it differently and usually tow big trailers for camping, so my assumption is that 1st gear lock is useful to now blow the torque converter.

Do you drive around in 1st? I hardly even go down on sketchy ridges in 1st. It's usually 2nd and 4lo. It would probably help with all that trailer though...

Yep. It's the X3. With 2 kids we grew out of our RTT and the trailer we had before this wasn't built to be dragged around off-road. We've had it for almost 2 years now and it has been a good little trailer for us. Just got home from a 3 week 2,500 mile loop through the PNW with it on Sunday.

I find I have more control using 1st gear and 4lo in steep or technical stuff. The trailer is 2,500lbs dry and the max weight is 3,500lbs. One of these days I need to load the truck and trailer and head for the scales but part of me doesn't want to know how heavy it all is (the truck has full armor and 2 spares so it's a fatty too).

You aren't the only one. I usually insist on 1st in 4 low if I'm wheeling (which I haven't done in a VERY long time), but anyway, when it comes to severe duty wheeling like the dunes or technical stuff, I stay in 1st, because send it, that's why.

I don't really have time to check every post in this thread, if I just want to do a drain and fill on my supercharger oil is there an easy way other than removing the whole nose housing?
