Ha! Now is the time on sprockets when we dance!

The new GX looks kickass. The "Prado" or whatever they're going to call it should be similar. Also super anxious for the 6th gen 4runner.

Gold! Thank you. If I swap out the transfer case, do I need to worry about doing any seals between the transmission and the TC?

No, but there is a seal on the input of the TC. I guess depending on condition that could be replaced. Otherwise it's an empty void between the trans and TC.

I might actually have a new TC input seal that I didn't use. I don't remember the part # of it or where I put it. If I dig it up you can have it.

    ok cool!

Also, why can’t I regear with a new planetary or something in the TC. Seems like a missed opportunity. Did i just invent an idea?!?! Lol

Nothing exists to regear the TC. To get more reduction I believe the planetary gear set would have to get larger in diameter so it wouldn't fit in the case.

Or use your broke dick TC for donor parts to a NWF craw box and get the TC I posted for $250. Win!! You know you want a crawl box.....

I beat you to the transfer case in Plymouth. Mine now! :p Seriously though, thanks for the tip. If I don’t get any hassle regarding warranty, I guess I would have an extra TC laying around.

Once I go pick it up, I’ll pick your brain a bit more regarding the condition and regarding what seals I should replace before putting it in.

That TC was supposed to be mine! Lol I was really contemplating changing over to manual shift and doing triple sticks. Meh, another time, it's going to a good home. Plymouth is just a short drive to sheboygan where I'm at. If it would work out swing by we could meet up at 3 sheep's brewery for a beer.

If you end up using the salvage tc I might be interested in yours if you'd want to sell.

A beer sounds like a great idea. We could drop the TC one of their stout tables and take a look at it, turn the turny things, and listen for noises. (Edit: just joking…I guess…but only because I’m not sure it’s socially appropriate)

Funny, I noticed the wrecked 4runner pictures from the salvage yard showed it had those sweet Teton shifter knobs. I asked what they wanted for it and they said they were selling it with the console for like 250. Booo. I was hoping to score those for a song and sell them on for “profit”.

Since I dont have anything else to do, I took the sliders off to paint them. Pretty much all the powdercoating has rust under it.EC22ACF8-6C6C-4990-8BC6-060836BC482E.jpg

On a positive note, the woolwax I sprayed behind the mounting plates on the sliders kept the frame factory fresh and shiny. No signs of rust from trapped water or dirt!

    Sure can. :D

My frame looked great underneath as well. I'm glad I hosed it with Fluid Film, and did so again this time around.

You might need to get a Limited front diff as well, or figure out how to keep the ADD engaged full time. I'm sure there's a wiring hack for this.

I mean.... I'm getting my tuned tweaked tomorrow. Going to get the AGM battery charging setup on it. FYI, that's a thing with the tunes... You can have your alternator output increase by a little bit.

How far down the rabbit hole do you want to go?
