I like the look also, so far the traction is better off road vs the GPS tire, I got stuck a few times with the GPS tire and I’m hoping this tire helps remedy it.
I’m curious to see how it holds up to road use because a majority of my riding is commuting to and from work, but I am also starting to do more riding off road as we clear land to build on, so I’ll be using them more on trails/fields also.

I like the Adventure over the GPS. I put the GPS on the front, but will not be doing on the rear.

I ordered the adventure/dual venture set, after ordering they emailed me that it was out of stock and I needed tires so I ordered the GPS rear and the Trailmax mission front tire and installed them while I was waiting on the other tires. I like the GPS on the road but off road I was a little letdown, my dad said when he rides behind me on dirt/forest roads it looks like the rear tire dances a lot and he blames it on the center stripe but I don’t feel it.
The Trailmax mission on the front is great on road and decent off-road but is absolutely terrible in sand.

You don't even have the guard I needed to cut it looks like. I would just put that one in a vice and bend it out a little bit if you want it adjusted up more. Or just deal with it till you get used to it haha

Im coming from Shinko 804/805. So far the GPS front is good. Its actually pretty loud on the highway.. not sure what to think about that. I still have some miles left on the current 805 and I have another one that I will swap on for a few thousand more after that. Then Ill get the Adventure rear.

Have you seen the new Dunlop Trailmax Raid tires? They are just about to get here. Released this year!

Ahhhh yisss! Another man of class who rode a niner for awhile (i put ~28k on mine in total). That is a beautiful specimen with tasteful upgrades, +1 to F4i forks.

Was this on the FJR? I'm considering tackling this myself this fall/winter. I'd like to give it a go. I'm fairly competent in the garage. Any special tools that I might need? I've watched several videos on YouTube, and for conventional forks, it doesn't seem to be that difficult. What about the oil level; how tricky is it to get the right amount in?

It's a Givi SR357 rack. I've got one on my FJR, as well as Garauld's Stiffy kit, to reinforce the subframe.

I have done both conventional old school damper rod style forks to fancy upside down cartridge forks, all are pretty easy if you have the service manual, are able to follow directions and have a proper seal driver.

They make fancy tools for setting oil level, but all I ever do is a use a zip tie as a dip stick and measure the oil height.

Except Grom forks that require torching them for 5 minutes to do anything

All my other forks have been a piece of cake though. Just wear clothes you don't like, because you will get fork oil all over you somehow, without fail.

I've done FJR forks a couple of times now. On my 2007 I did them twice, first at 56k or close to it and later at around 118k I believe. I just did my 2014 earlier this season and upgraded my front fork springs to HyperPro. FJR is fairly easy, only tools you should have is a 26mm socket welded to a short length of tubing to hold the damper rod while you undo the bottom bolt. It's possible to break that bold loose first with an impact if you let the top cap on so spring tension might keep the damper from spinning. On my 2014 I didn't get that lucky but a friend had already made up the socket/tube holder. You should also have a syringe tool for setting for oil level. I grabbed one off Amazon, a Motion Pro that works real easily.

If your bike has more than 30-40k miles on it you're going to find most if not even all of the Teflon coating will be worn off your bushings. On Gen 2 and Gen 3 bikes there are 3 bushings and on both of my FJRs based on recommendations of other owners I deleted the middle bushing in each leg. If you look back at parts diagrams of Gen 1 bikes they only used 2 bushings so we're not reinventing the wheel here. Main reason for deleting the middle bushing is that it is a total PITA to install without a special too. Bottom bushing goes on really easy and top bushing just gets driven carefully into the lower fork leg during assembly.

Lol yeah thats why I came up with my 5$ OG from fork mod for more travel and just changed oil weight.... but outside of those wacky forks all big bike forks have been pretty easy.

All this fork talk reminds me I need to start sourcing parts for my super tenere, @25k miles its time, slider bushings, seals and oil.

I'm hating myself a little today. I did a short video on the Grom's flip key and gave it a really really click-bait-y title.

And it freaking worked :anonymous: I'm at double what most of my other video views have been at this point haha
