Haven’t read here in a while (so sorry if it’s been covered), but seeing what you’re building the truck for, go get yourself some hood pins.

You really think it’s needed on a steel hood with the factory hood latch?

Yes. Factory hood latch is barely adequate for the road. In the desert, it’s going to disintegrate fast. I know they’re a pain, but better than your hood flying open at 60mph

Lmao not sure if you read up a little bit but the reason I need a hood is because my old one flew up at 20mph. But that’s because I forgot to reinstall the hood latch, lol.

I can't remember the dudes name, but a guy that used to be frequent on TW was hitting whoops in his truck and his hood flew open and he t-boned a drunk driver who was cutting across because he couldn't see and wrote off both trucks.

yeah but now you’re working with the weight of a steel hood wanting to rip apart your pins too…should have gone with the lighter glass hood.

seriously if you are going to do hood pins do them now while your truck is in the shop because you will want to reinforce your core support where the pins are mounted. just a simple steel plate welded to the core support where it will be drilled out for your pins to spread out the force. do it now and save yourself the headaches of tearing up your new core support when you start driving that thing like you stole it :bikewhoops:

I'll put it in when I have the truck back. I gotta take the motor out, so I'll have time.

I don't trust non-metal hoods. Ive seen too many CF or CFRP or fiberglass hoods fly up and shatter windshields on track cars. Usually, the latch breaks off or comes unbonded from the hood. Id rather run the steel hood and use pins. They're really not all that much heavier anyways, especially if it's normal fiberglass. the new hood was 350$ shipped, and came the next day. Cant complain about that.

I forgot to mention this here, but when the motor comes back out, Im going to take the time to fully remove the factory engine harness. I Was excited to get this thing running so I just chopped the connector and got everything out of my way. Since its gotta come out, might as well make it look super clean.

+ another vote for hood pins.
After a few years of LT driving on my truck, the front corners of my hood flap around and vibrate at 60mph+ so much im actually afraid. This is on the hwy too.
Hood pins will be done on my factory hood when I redo the core support. I got a $130 spare sitting at home too lol, thought about getting another upper tie bar too to plug weld on top of the replacement. Just need to get the welding skills up to par or pay someone to redo it from scratch. I've had buddys patch everything from the firewall forward 2x now.

Well I just got off the phone with Holley.

My 4L75E wouldn't shift past second gear, and there was no indication it was even trying to. The Terminator kit I have is for a 4L60E, but the transmissions are more or less the same, they don't give you an option between 4l60/65/70/75/e. I went on their website just to check to see if maybe there was another harness I needed. I found one. One is for a pre 2009 transmission, one is for a post 2009 transmission. Did some digging through the invoice from monster on the transmission I bought, but cant find anything about what year transmission it is, other than its a 4l75e. From everything I can find online, it appears like the 4l75e was produced in 2016. This means I have the wrong harness for the transmission installed, and hopefully thats what's causing my no shift issue. It is a brand new transmission so I'm not expecting anything to be wrong with it. The Holley tech confirmed the older terminator LS I bought came with the pre-2009 transmission harness. He invoiced me for the new one and is pretty confident it will solve my issue.
