    All of it
Back before Covid I was hearing rumors about this stuff and did a few videos on it. After the 200 went away, there we already mumblings of a "stripped down dedicated off road LC" coming state side. I think covid just delayed it a bit. It is quite a crowded segment so its kind of strange. My most recent vide on the LC was off, because I did speculate that the difference between the GX and the new LC would be a solid axle or that we would be getting the revamped TNGA 70 series since they are supposedly being redesigned as well. My thoughts were that the 70 would now be able to pass some crash tests so there was a fighting chance.

Anyway, that was obviously way wrong now that we have seen the side profile. A solid axle wouldnt completely surprise me as it would actually make the LC a different vehicle than every other SUV they are offering. Next week will be pretty interesting. Wheelbase will be 112, as it looks identical to the GX and would be a smart move of Toyota since the other LC has grown and they have always bragged about that wheel base size. And since they are "all in on overlanding".

I thought that I was the only one baffled that while Jeep can still make a Jeep that looks like a well, Jeep, Toyota doesn't. At least not for the US market. Would I buy something like this. Maybe, but I'd sure give it a good look.

Believe it is part of Toyota’s philosophy of “looking forward, not backward” why they never did. Of course many of us Toyota die hards miss the good ‘ol days. They certainly missed a great opportunity choosing not to build a Wrangler competitor.

    https://global.toyota/en/company/vision-and-philosophy/philosophy/

Not sure if they are sticking to the “affordable” part.

Yeow! You’ll save on gas, but won’t be saving any money!

We had a RAV4 TRD loner, think it listed at $43K, it was nice…but not $43K nice. I don’t get it. It is just a car…

Oh I do. Just don’t see the point of spending $43K on a RAV4 TRD. I mean… it is a RAV4 afterall, *yawn* can’t really wheel it, seems like a poser vehicle to me, good for runs to REI to buy some Patagucci, so influencers can “look” outdoorsy while they pull off the 70 to take a selfie with mountains in the background.

Base model sub $30K makes more sense to me, will do the exact same thing as the TRD version.

Not much of a car person, so I don’t see the value in it. $43K can get you a base model 4WD Tundra and actually be way more useful.

You don’t think a special paint color, black wheels, black fender flares and most importantly TRD badges is worth $10K? :D

Not really! :p Don’t forget the 0.5” lift too!

As they say a fool and their money.

Not much of a fan of the Tacoma Pro either…poser vehicle, can’t haul or tow much…sucks at “real” off-roading. Ok for flexing at Lowe’s and Starbucks I guess…

The TRD trim starts at $37,895 so that must have been optioned out heavily. I'd rather get an Outback Wilderness for a more capable, better ride with 60 more HP.

Why wait two years for a Rav4 Prime when you can get any number of EVs with the same capability at a lower cost? As hard as Toyota is pushing PHEVs you'd think they would actually make a few of them. Instead we get these retro-looking SUVs like the new GX and LC that tickle 20 MPG. Toyota is definitely sucking hind teat in the EV game.

It was, think they were trying to get us to buy it, did quite the opposite, it turned us way off. Rather have a truck at that price point, and did! Actually spent less on my 3G.

Those CUVs are just glorified grocery getters, while I do like wagons, don’t think they are worth $40K.

Buddy of mine has an Outback Wilderness, less cargo room, worse gas mileage than my Tacoma, tows roughly half, and waaaay less capability. Not my thing, don’t get it, but some guys like ‘em!

Yeah a bunch more options out there. Not much into cars though, honestly dont care for Toyota cars at all, only like the 4Runner, Tacoma and the Tundra…and even then the latest and greatest is a hard sell for me. Definitely loosing interest in Toyota. Didn’t think I would ever say that after being loyal for 30 years.

As for EVs, just not there yet for me. As I said I don’t like cars, grew up in trucks, and always had a truck for my personal vehicle. Maybe a Rivian or Lightning, but those short beds are just about worthless, even my 6’ on my AC can be frustrating. That and the price, can buy an awfully nice diesel 1 Tonner for that can actually haul and tow stuff, plus don’t have to stop every 100 miles to refuel, while doing said things.

Based on the 2022/23 order thread in 3rd gen forum it is clear the 3rd gen will be in production through at least the end of August and most of those vehicles will deliver in September/October. Will be curious to see if August is end of the road for 3rd gen production or if they will crank them out into the fall.

They’ll definitely be making 3rd gens until prices are released, and there’s a configurator on Toyota.com.

Nothing to do with the Tacoma. I saw that 4R Pros are getting the old TRD wheels instead of the updated 21+ versions. Rumored to be a supply chain issue, I wonder if 4R is done and Toyota is just using up current wheel stock, as those wheels will not be going on any future Toyota production vehicles.
