Good morning TTC. How is everyone today?

 

Friday, had an unplanned outage last night at the plant, now this morning all upper management has their hair on fire. Then there’s me, drinking coffee, looking at somones saw cut job on a door, hey, that’s a big crack in the block all the way to the roof. Fuck it, let’s kick that door out. Life is good. Continuing to drink coffee and plan some repairs for the day, move some chemical around, have lunch, respond to random hair on fire emails, then go home. Got a regear in the garage this weekend, and also a tune scheduled. Gonna see if I can get the regear done in one day so I got a free Sunday. Also, since you mentioned TTC, I am trying to revive it. Good things to come, got a lot of work to do there. Anyway, how are you?

 

@Texoma are you the assistant bishop that will take over the helm of the Church of TTC?

Did y'all see the 4th get Tacoma?
All these years, people have been struggling about 32" tires vs 33". Rubbing issues, lifting, changing the UCI and so on. No one thought about it as Toyota did. Their answer for 33" inch tires without changing the vehicle's specs as much. Here is the "33" inch tires y'all 265/70R18 On the 4th gen Tacoma. Yet, the ground clearance is still 9.5" as far as I know
What do y'all think?

 

How's the tune on the 2nd Gens? I was gonna get it from Brody before he dipped out but could not link up in time. Is it just "less sloppy" throttle response? Curious how it's doing for the old Brick?

 

Better throttle response, better trans shifting, motor doesn’t struggle as much driving 1431. I’ve tuned a few 2nd gens (2.0’s and 2.5’s) and one 07 FJC which is same motor. All have said the same thing, it def drives better.

I do have that ability now. Convinced my company to give me Wi-Fi hot spot, for work reasons. Who did your timing cover?

pedal commander is unreliable. It intercepts the signal and creates its own. It has the tendency to give bad signal, throw a TB code, and put the truck in limp mode.

 

I've had one on my Tundy for 5 years now, and have never had any issues.

 

Doesn’t happen to all of em, but it’s a known issue.

 

Is it actually limp mode, or is it more of a temporary "I was in the pool!" mode?

 

Round Rock Toyota, I ended up getting quite a bit done at that time. The truck needed some work on the cooling system as well so I ended up getting the water pump, thermostat, timing cover re-sealed, radiator(cracked housing), hoses, & the applicable fluid changes. I haggled with them about their initial quote and they dropped it by $700. Also they threw in a free Taco loaner for 2 weeks while they had it. Now I am needing tires again It's always something

 

I thought about that a couple years ago but stopped looking into it when I heard about the issues. Plus I like the idea of supporting our local Taco junkie

 

Who did you hear about the “issues” from? Dude selling tuner services? (Love ya, Jeff, no offense…)

I’ll take you in a ride in the Tundy, and if you were sitting in the back seat, with the head rest out, I’d bounce your melon off the back window.

5 years, no issues.

I haven't seen any issues from 2nd gen Tacoma owners though.

 

Circling back, it appears some Tundra owners have had issues, but I haven't. Yet.
