I searched through previous threads and couldn’t really find any relevant info

I had my tires balanced and a few weeks later the tpms light blinks indicating a faulty sensor, and I get no tire pressure readings on the dash. A couple days later the light goes away and everything is fully functional again. the next day it stops working. Any ideas what’s happening here? Thanks in advance

How old are the sensors? Sounds like the battery might be going dead. Or the sensor might have come loose and is moving.

The sensors should be no older than 4 years, most likely newer

is it reasonable to ask the shop to check if they’re loose?

Batteries should last longer than 4 years. At least 5 from what I’ve been told. I don’t know if they can be checked without removing tire from the wheel. Go back to the shop and discuss issue. They may have a way to check.

Agree with cement on going back to talk to them about the issue. Also might be worth going through the manual to learn and try the relearn procedure

Sounds like batteries starting to go dead. This same thing would happen on my previous truck. It's a bit of a hassle to deal with, you have to bring it in to get the sensors serviced or replaced. I'm happy Canada doesn't have TPMS as a requirement and my OR didn't come with it. I'm now using the same sensor that RIX posted, even though being used on dozens of wheels it still works perfectly. :D

My plan is when I need new tires to go ahead and replace the sensors. It takes me about 5 years to go through a set of tires.
