Does anyone here have one of the SWAG press brake kits? Was it decently easy to weld together? How do you like it?

 

When it comes to buying consumables it comes down to how well your known!

Sadly unknown walk in customers will always be charged list price.

Since it is only me I have a dedicated bench grinder that the brand new wheel only sees tungsten

 

I bought mine years ago when it gets used it does what it should.

Not bad for the home user!

Got mine used, otherwise I was going to buy the weld it yourself kit.

It's a really small assembly in terms of parts welded, a weld it yourself bumper would take longer.

I may not use it much, but when I do it's stupid useful and I love it.

Can't imagine bending on it by hand, go air over hydraulic. Just requires the simple mod of drilling a new hole, and widening the platform it sits on if you wish to do so.













Whatever jack you use, if it has a hand switch I recommend dumping it for a foot switch.



Makes handling heavier stuff in place much easier so your bends end up being square as you'll be able to use both hands instead of one.

 

Is anyone running the new HTP Revolution 2500? Looks like the be-all, end-all welding unit for all thicknesses of all materials up to about 1/4". Titanium, mild steel, aluminum. True AC / DC pulsed TIG and MIG etc. etc. The kitchen sink welder.

The thing I don`t like is no local service.

So much shipping damage these days .

 

For that price I'd rather have two machines; a Miller 255 does pulsed MIG and supports a spoolgun. Not to mention it's a Miller.

Then buy a dedicated TIG welder like a PrimeWeld 225 or 325.

 

I havent checked prices in a while, but I really like Fein mag drills and structure drills. Also have a steelmax that has been good.

Hougen is the cream of the crop ... had and used many of them and never left me hanging.

Edit: and Slugger. If I had my choice, in order: Hougen, Fein / Sluger, steel max ....probably some other ones luke bosch etc... then Dewalt or any of the red / yellow / blue / green brands.

As several people in here use Plasma torches. Can someone explain the difference between touch vs. no-touch machines, and can I get some opinions on these two machines? With coupons, the cost would be about the same for either machine.

I have the Hypertherm on my machine it is only different consumables

Some are meant to be dragged on the surface others you need to stand off.

YEARS OF oxy- fuel torches I had a bad habit of lifting the plasma torch and losing the cut.

No idea how the machines you linked work it night be as simple as just the consumables.

I would at least Look at the Prime Weld offerings.

I've only ever used a drag tip, or " touch" version.

When I attach it to the CNC table, the tip is set to remain a mm or so above the sheet metal.
