I assume you have a compressor, you should bite the bullet and get the spray gun if you plan on doing this on your own regularly. It's worth its weight in gold and fluid film/woolwax is cheaper when you don't also have to have a can full of propellant to apply it.

I do have one buts it’s only 1 gallon and 1hp. Think it’s 2.7-3.4 CFM.

As long as it can do 75ish PSI, you should be fine. It will just constantly be refilling.

I always recommend the pro gun because of the wands that are included, that 360* spray tip is absolutely fantastic for getting into our frames.

I work with woolwax over fluid film, but this gun is specifically made for fluid film: https://www.amazon.com/Fluid-Film-FFSG-Spray-Applicator/dp/B07YF5BCDH

You might want to see a Doctor about that urine sample.

Swapped the tailgate panel with a Hooke Road. Pretty stout and the holes lined up okay. I did use the original screws since the washers they give you are a little too small.
    $125 OTD on ebay.
    I'm satisfied.

Installed the RC Fab gussted spindles and new wheel bearings. Oh, and rotated the tires.

Pretty sure it can go up to 125psi. Think I’ll be fine with mine, just might take longer correct?

Built a 15” extension harness for my speedometer gear so it would work with my crawl box and the longer AWD FJ case. Used some materials from an extra 1GR wire harness I have, so the wire gauge matches up and the colors are close. Still waiting on driveshafts but hopefully I’ll be driving this thing soon

Gave her a wash this morning - she’s looking good:

    IMG_5550.jpg

Unfortunately it’s finally happening, the roof clear coat is starting to go… the white spots in the top middle are new from the last wash I did not too long ago…

    IMG_5549.jpg

Those other gray spots have been there for quite a while. Anything I can do to save it from getting worse? Have a professional detailer work with it? Its a bummer because i'm actually pretty good about washing/waxing/ceramic coating the entire truck. I guess the San Diego sun is too powerful - no option to park under cover/inside, however.

there may be a clear uv resistant vinyl that can protect it. mine looks like dog shit and im going to have to either repaint or just get a black vinyl to cover it. will most likely do the vinyl

I mean there’s always paint correction but that requires enough clear to work with. Or you can use cleaner wax, Iron-X, claybar, water spot remover, final non hard water rinse, etc where needed, then wax sealant and/or ceramic in whichever order

if my truck looked that nice
    Before it gets worse
I would wrap the roof in white vinyl. Then it’s already there if you end up putting a roof rack, and protecting one of the more vulnerable areas.

You can always wetsand it, use 2-3 cans of SPRAYMAX 2K clear, it might not come out perfect but you will hardly see it anyways.

Truck looks good. Is your truck an SR or SR5? I see it says SR5, and also has the SR pkg wheels and turn signal mirrors. Toyota could have added those exterior appointments to the SR5. Either way it's a nice looking truck.

Maybe more pictures of the finish product to come. He told me to bring it back for touchups yearly but not necessary, that he does his every 3 years.
Left the wife's Forester to get done today, pickup Tuesday.( Wife had knee replacement surgery this past Tuesday no rush).

Good idea - would at least protect it from getting worse, but wouldn't cover up existing damage.
As mentioned above, ya maybe a vinyl wrap would be the best bet to protect it from getting worse. I'm no paint expert so i don't know how much clear is left for someone to do a paint correction - still leaves the issue of it doing it again anyways. But thanks for the compliment!
I definitely don't trust myself to do something like this, lol.
Thank you - its actually just a 'SR'. To be honest, not sure why i put SR5 decals on the bedsides, maybe I didn't know at the time or bought some existing decals. Did it years ago and can't remember.

Washed and waxed the girl about three weeks ago. Today changed her oil and filter. Poured only 5 quarts of oil. Checked the level an hour later and she was good. What’s up with that?

Replaced spark plugs, ignition coils, gear oil, and coolant at 185k. Turns out the spark plugs were factory and in.. well, decent condition considering this was 17 years and that many miles. Replacement well overdue, and the truck runs a lot smoother now. At least I can be sure I'm running on all 6 cylinders now.
