Got to lay down on the sup and watch an osprey for a while. Saw a heron. Pretty much business as usual but nice nonetheless

 

It didn't fall thankfully but I had a huge dying beech tree on the line of me and my next door neighbor. Dropped limbs every winter. Always fell on my side but his wiring feed from the street was 6 feet from the tree so if even a small one fell there...

Same as you, I got estimates and then showed it to him, explaining IDK whose tree it is (could even have been both as it was so wide). He said "oh that's easy I'll pay half you pay half". Worked out for us plus the neighbor on my other side took all the wood for his stove.

 

I'm going to guess this mess is going to yield a cord-ish by the time I'm done cutting and splitting and all that fun stuff

 

Got maybe half of it cut up tonight

This tree stood about 40 feet and the trunk was about 2 feet wide. My neighbor who took the wood is always cutting the stuff up and even his biggest saw took a lot of doing to get through some of the shit. Fortunately he has a small front end loader type thing he used to transport the stuff

 

Yea I have a 50cc, 20in husky that does pretty good but it's a mix between Norway Maple and Silver Maple. The tree that came down also took out decent sized branches.

We have one tree that the whole top got taken off by it so I'm going to drop that once the first tree is mostly cleaned up. Just going to throw the wood I'm taking into the back of my tundra and then stack on pallets to keep it dry and let it season

 

I did some lot clearing last winter and got a try a few chains to compare between the 2. Some of the more aggressive chains run right through the hardwoods like butter, its impressive!

 

I'm definitely going to be looking into a 2nd chain at least so I can swap them as I go if needed. My current chain definitely could use a sharpening

So I had saved an overlay on google maps with all these pins for different class IV/VI roads but I can’t seem to figure out how to switch back to it. Anyone know how/if you can switch back and fourth on that sort of thing?


Edit figured it out, under pins it was under ‘saved’ then ‘maps’

Nothing like a tornado warning to shake up the evening.

When you click on the news and they’re highlighting a mile from your house as the danger zone.

My poor kids were terrified. Nothing happened though so that’s a win.

Got sporty in eastern CT also. Tornado warning about ten miles from us and a lightning strike close enough to light up the backyard and trip the breaker for our well pump. Mrs. SpruceMica screamed and headed downstairs

What type of gas mileage does a gasser Super Duty get pulling a 5th wheel at 85 MPH? I was pacing one from NH and he was in the fast lane trying to go flat out. Are we in fractional digit MPG?
