Hello, I'm moving to Florida (New Port Richey area) from Maryland this weekend to get closer to family.

A few questions for you Floridians...

    1. I coat my frame yearly with Fluid Film and Surface Shield lanolin products. Will I need to continue my application down there? I understand there is no road salt but possibly from coastal air?

    2. Who do you guys use for preference for Toyota mechanics and 4x4 custom work?

    3. Any suggestions?

Photos of my Tacomas just because.

2015 4x4 base 4D with some upgrades. And my 1996 2.4 work truck

You won't need to continue treating your frame. I do suggest rinsing your truck at least once a week if near the ocean. I haven't had any issues.

Your go to for aftermarket work is below. You can find them on Facebook along with a bunch of great groups.

Florida welcomes you and your Fleet, RCTuning nailed it for maintenance shops, for parts use Toyota Overstock.com they are located in Lakeland Fl a 30 minute ride down I4 from New Port Richey their prices are half of what you’ll find at local dealerships. For salvage yard parts dont bother with anything in Tampa/Stpete/Clearwater 1st and 2nd gens get picked clean within 48hrs, my honey hole is Central Florida Auto Salvage in Zephyrhills Fl, hour ride east but worth it, always have what i need for my first gen. Two or three times a year i get under my truck and wipe down the frame with a fluid film soaked rag, probably not necessary but keeps it clean and rust free....we do have high heat and humidity.

Awesome guys, thanks a bunch. I'll be sure to check out those mechanics listed for future stuff. Was looking to maybe add a Snorkel and ARB bumper in the future.

I’d personally still use the fluid film- why not have the protection

Photos I've seen on Matthias Off Road Facebook page, none of those trucks had frame rust aside from normal surface rust.

I don't live in FL, but my corvette was purchased from Orlando and then shipped to Colorado. I had surface rust on bare metal parts from sitting at the dealership. I cleaned the areas up and covered with some paint.

New Port Richie looks like a nice place. Hot AF in the summer. We liked Crystal River area just north of your new home. My wife would move there in a second.

A good starter home for you...

    Damn that's a nice place.

Careful of @Pchop in FL. He's on the coastal side so you should be ok. :D

With all the people on here having bad attitudes, I have no idea how to take people anymore man. I apologize for getting mad but it seemed to me like you were trying to be insulting. Didn't even look at your name.
