Is the 4th Gen design - bold or ugly?

Opinions varied throughout this forum and other forums. I can see both arguments. I think both the front and rear looks really good (minus the tiny sliding window), but the side profile with its awkward cabin shape, small rear windows/doors and roof spoilers is where most opinions differ. Not counting the cheap looking air vent on the front fender on some of the models. This seems to bother me more than I thought (especially on the model with plastic fender) (TRD Off-Road).

Personally, I think it's both ugly and somewhat bold, and yet at the same time quite good looking (depending on the angle). I thought the Gen 3 Tundra was the ugliest truck I have ever seen (pics and videos), but it actually looks amazing in person! Can't stop staring at the new Tundra! I hope that is the case with the new Tacoma when we get to see it live and in person.

Even though I cannot wait to buy the Gen 4 Tacoma, I have decided that I will play it safe and wait until 2026 to own my first Tacoma. Meanwhile, I'll find a cheap hooptie to get me from point A to B.

    Waited 8 years for a Taco...what another 3 more years? :(

4G is a little busy I've always thought the lines on Toyota sheet metal were funky since the late 90s, not bad just like why is that line there when that crease is over there.

I saw a Nissan Hardbody sitting in the grass off the side of the road today, I said now that's a good looking truck.

It's all subjective. I think it's the best looking generation Tacoma others think its 'disgusting' looking. Oh well.

Overall I like it.I don’t like the look of projector headlights.

all I think about when I see them is a transformer.

You can be the plumpest, sweetest, roundest, brightest most colorful peach…not everyone likes peaches.

    Personally I can’t stand them. :) :p

You did not specify exterior or interior, but I could do without what looks like a velcro'd ipad on the dashboard.
It is not the size, just how it appears less integrated than it might be.

Exterior - the one thing that bothers me is the roof spoiler. When I first saw it on the new Chevy, I immediately knew I wanted nothing to do with it. The previous generation Chevy Z71 was one of my favorite exterior design trucks.

When I saw it on the new Tacoma, my heart dropped. I still cannot get over why Toyota thought it was a good idea? Spoilers are supposed to make a vehicle look cooler, not worse. Because of the roof spoiler, the whole vehicle cabin looks out of sync, and less balance than the Gen 3 Tacoma.

People weren't joking when they say the new Tundra looks like a Silverado while the new Tacoma looks like a Chevy/GMC product.

I need someone to photoshop the new Tacoma without the roof spoilers from multiple angles. This is my hunch why the new Gen 4 Tacoma looks odd for me. Looks fantastic in the front and rear though.

With that said, I don't feel this new Tacoma has the same timeless look as the Gen 3.

Spoiler is there to eke out mpgs. Run toppers on all my trucks, so wouldn’t even know it is there. Plus now topper manufacturers have to redesign their products so the can sell even more of them. Sucks for the buyer since you won’t be able to transfer a current topper to a new truck, which the manufacturers love so they can get more of your money.

I did not know that it helps with fuel economy. I know the air vent on the front fender does (even though it's ugly on the Tacoma).

I feel better now that there is a positive reason why the roof spoiler was added, and not just for looks.

Yep every little thing helps, might be a fraction of a percentage, could gain a mile or two with all the other aero tricks. If you look at the 3rd Gen there are small fins in crucial areas. Like the side of the front air damn, the mirrors and on the lower quarter panel behind the rear fender arch. All for trying to get the air flow smoother.

Same with the spoiler built into tailgates.

It’s no uglier than any generation of truck with camping.. err.. “overlanding” gear vomited all over it. To me the Pro and the TrailHunter have too much going on and look a little silly. The OR, Sport, and Limited are a bit more subtle and can pull of the semi-aggressive body lines in stock condition.

The ugliest trucks out there are the bros with racks, dorkel, maxtrax, bed rack, 35s, etc.. Overly modded trucks are the Affliction shirt of vehicles, regardless of generation.

Does this have anything to do with the curved cabin rear end (less straight than other trucks and Gen 3)? Or is that just for looks? The part that connects the cabin to the bed. It would look better if it was straighter (still curvy) like the Gen 3 or other trucks.

Hopefully, there is a reason for such curvature and not anesthetic.

My guess is it is for more rear legroom.

Remember when car camping is when you just threw some crap in the bed and took off for the wilds…

But its curvature cuts into the cabin room? However, it seems like it would give it a longer bed instead based on the direction of the curvature. Either way I'm excited to learn more about this new truck.
