Had my 2020 SR5 automatic 30000 miles for a month now and noticed a light ringing noise when I accelerate in first few gears with my windows down seems to change as gear shifts wondering if my rear diff is going out

also don’t hear anything once truck is up to speed

also sorry to jump right in with a post lol so glad to be part of this group now been noticing it in like every google search I have pulled up on my Taco

just the exhaust resonance. Could also be a loose heat shield or skid.

Does the noise still happen with the A/C off? They make like a harmonic high pitched hum/ring for some reason

I actually have developed a very similar ring/high pitched resonance since my front diff was replaced last year. It’s always the same, never seems to get worse, goes away as quick as it shows up

When I tried my truck without the chin spoiler it made a whistling noise at highway speeds until ni reinstalled it. Otherwise my 2020 sr5 is still pretty quiet at 23k. As far as extended warranties, thats up to you. I never go for them, but rather put the money into a professional ceramic coating on the truck.

I only hear my ringing as accelerating with the first few gears kind of like it echos off of stuff around me

Well for what it’s worth my front diff was replaced under Toyota extended care due to a failed needle bearing at 54k.

That's exactly how I would describe the infamous 3rd gen Taco A/C ring.... when accelerating and goes away after RPMS stabilze.

Also, I too noticed a faint whistle coming from the front end when I removed the air dam. But I only hear that with the windows down... it's a whistle caused by air passing around the A arms and the front of the frame.

Hopefully your case is something harmless like that and not an actual problem with the front diff.

Just curious if you were running a lift or if the needle bearing failed on stock suspension and everything?

Highly doubt it.. I was just curious cause Tacomaryan18 said his needle bearing failed and I wanted to know if he was running a lift or stock suspension cause I'm about to install 5100s front and rear with no lift and I'm debating wether swapping out the needle bearing in the driver's side front diff output for an ECGS clamshell bushing, but everyone seems to say ECGS swap is only needed for lifted Tacos...sry for the sidetrack btw

I had a Chevy that had a loose one that was tapping the driveshaft and made a ring sound, ripped it off and fixed it
