When a project of this magnitude is finally done, do you and your crew get a chance to take a breath and take it all in to appreciate everything that you've done?

 

nah, more like "take a pic, happy it's over, let's move on"

all the big projects i've worked on, the sense of accomplishment comes later, after one has had some time to de-stress and unwind from overcoming all the hurdles a job of that size contains.

 

I do that all the time as we complete either something that is a big stage like all concrete work done or all framing done or when we get to do something cool like timber work or something unusual

 

Picked up some butcher block slabs for upcoming mud room buildout. Going to use them for countertop and benches.

 

I got tired of trying to manage extension cords while working in the backyard. Picked this up today... 75 feet of 12 gauge wire, 4 receptacles. We'll see.

 

I went to a similar version a couple years ago, "no ragrets".

Cordless miter saw, table saw and nail guns? I see those, but don't know if I want one. With the cord I don't have to worry about batteries going bad (and buying expensive replacements). I'd really like a cordless Sawzall but can't justify it. I do have a cordless circular saw and really like it, and the compressor needs a cord for the various nail guns. Suppose if I were doing it for a living it would make more sense to have more battery tools...

 

I think we got our moneys worth out of this one. What was left of the cross tubes were filled with wasps nests. Good clean fun.

EDIT: This isn't my doing. We've been in this place since late September and I'm playing catch up on maintenance/facilities/repairs. I'm friends with ex-owner and he just laughs and says, "you're undoing all my rednecking".

 

I have a cordless framing nailer , haven't gone the cordless mitre saw or tablesaw route yet though . I have a cordless sawzall , its pretty handy

 

I've been up on a roof with a framing nailer with the hose draped down to the compressor. It takes some planning and attention to maneuver so you don't get tripped up or dragged down. Cordless would definitely be preferred.

 

I bought the Hitachi / Metabo framer for small punch jobs and a couple small woodshed / shed buildings where I was going to be 300'-400' from power

 

I got a well-used Bostich off ebay after I bought my house. That was 20 +/- years ago and it still works without any maintenance, besides a bit of oil now and then. Helps that I don't use it often. Big, heavy bastard, but it works. My dad went to Hawaii and helped my uncle build an outside laundry shed. He packed it in a suitcase and brought it with him, along with a box of nails! I think he checked it and I was surprised TSA didn't have an issue with it.

 

Everything I get off Amazon needs re-re-reengineering! I'm sick of it.

Looks ok, and the embedded canister is a good idea but the spring inside has a cap that only allows the bolt to go in maybe 3/4". I just took the spring and cap off and it works fine for now. I could back the whole bolt assembly away and redrill, but then two of the holes would be out in space................may rethink that..........

 

Poured our basement slab this morning . Used a 33m boom pump to pump over the house and reduced to a 2 1/2" whip to go into the basement . 18 yards of 32mpa / 10mm stone

turned out nice

 

Yes, it did come out nice. Looks great and I saw the chairs for the rebar . What do you saw cut at? 10' or 12' squares?

Edit: Or do you go by corners in such a small space?

 

there is 1" aluminum angle across the doorways and at most reentrant corners , you can kinda make it out in first pic at edge of placed concrete

I don't ever poor slabs like that. Makes perfect sense.
