I’ve been looking into it a bit for my wife’s car, apparently the ceramic tint, if used just for the UV isn’t very dark, yet keeps the car cooler. I may be mistaken, but that’s how I read it.

That's my understanding as well, and can confirm. If both sitting in the sun my truck's interior will be cooler than then my wife's car. But in all fairness she has an suv that has way more glass

As much as I like tint windows, not for me, there are way too many deer around my area. hard to spot them already especially the small ones that still have the spots on them. The LED headlights helped a lot.

Jeez! I did see you on the news this morning that some people aren't expecting to get power until tomorrow. Hopefully they get it on for you sooner than that, though.o_O

correct. The tint gets you the heat rejection, doesn’t matter how dark it is. It’s the film that does it.

I’ve got 70% on my windshield.

pretty nice getting in and not burning yourself during the summer

In regards to the Tinkerer video about skinnies VS wide tires.

I got curious earlier, and posted this on 4runners.com. It definitely seems like the type of tire has a lot to do with flex...

This definitely has me considering a skinny for my next set. I just hate the way they look. Then again, a 285/ 75 /17 is kind of a skinny. :notsure:

I'd like to see a video comparing wide versus skinny MT's as well. Or, it would be nice to see a video using more typical sizes, like a 285/70/17 versus a 255/ 80/17.

I was a little curious so I did my own little test with two 2x4's stacked. This is significantly taller and wider than his 2.5 inch tube. I didn't take any actual measurements though. Just took some pictures.

At 32 PSI, which I am running on the street:

15 PSI, which is where I usually start out off-road.

12 PSI, which I typically run if I know I'm going to be doing technical stuff.

10 PSI, which I generally don't run, but might drop to if I was stuck, or trying to get extra traction for an obstacle.

8 PSI, which it was as low as I felt comfortable going. I don't think I would ever run this low without beadlocks, but I have heard of people running 8 psi.

I don't know if it is due to the smaller tire, or the fact that this is MT, but, even without measuring, It's obvious that my 295/70/17 deformed much more than the 315 AT he was testing. Even at 15 PSI, my tire began to wrap around the 2x4.

The video did convince me that a skinny tire is probably a better option if you're mostly on hard surfaces. I still think a wider tire might be better for situations where you want more flotation, but I could still be wrong. :D

Just a WAG, but it possibly has something to do with the additional sidewall that allows the carcass to flex more.

Well, that would make sense. But, both of the tires tested in the video had more sidewall than mine.

    Edit: all 3.

Well, finally wired the 2nd battery to the main, so now, I charge when parked or engine running, switches automatically. The last piece of that puzzle will be going AGM with the main battery and getting my tune altered for the additional charging.

Figured out where my problem is with my interior lights in the cap. Just have to get a few hours to lift the cap, fix the wires and find the blown fuse.

Also took a few minutes to mount my fire extinguisher.

I've been debating on running up to Elkhart Lake next weekend at some point to see what all the fuss is about. If I was to head up that way, I'd be happy to lend a set of hands pulling that cap off.

Or do you have some sort of a pulley system already rigged up?

Old rule of offroad; tall & skinny to cut to a hard bottom,
the wider a tire is the more it will float over things.

Thanks for the offer, I'll just loosen the clamps, lift from inside and block the one side up with some 2x4 pieces to give me enough room to work. The guy that installed it routed the wires in a poor way and they got pinched. Should be an easy fix.
