Headlight DRL wiring help

I needed to replace headlights and went with the Spec-D Switchback Sequential LED projectors. I have factory DRL but I don’t know how to wire them back up; these don’t have a socket and it looks like it may require splicing.

Does anyone have experience with this and how/which wire(s) to splice into? I can include more photos if it helps.

I see the headlight are fine and I also see the turn signal connector.

 

Man, their directions suck. This is the closest thing I could find, but am not 100% sure it pertains to this headlight. It looks like there is a wedge (to replicate the bulb base) for the sidemarker light? On the top picture, you can see the hole for it, but I don't see any wiring there? Maybe its inside the light and needs pulled out? But I dont see any direct DRL feed, so maybe it uses the parking light for that? See step 18 for what I am talking about

@Puppypunter - yeah, I did find those instructions on their site - they are worse than the one page tutorial that these came with (posted a photo).
The back of my headlight looks nothing like the one in their instruction sheet.

 

caribe makaira, I do have a pigtail that I cut off of my previous headlight (they were aftermarket and were "plug and play" - they had several connectors coming out of a central area on the back of the housing; they were VLAND LED projector headlights (which stopped working on the Drivers side).

 

GREEN wire is DRL
PINK is PARKING
You'll have to figure out HALO and LED circuit on the aftermarket headlight assembly.

 

You can de-pin the pigtail, purchase the required terminals, strip the wires, crimp the terminals, insert into connector, lock them and mate to vehicle harness.

OP, would you say HALO is the DRL?

 

Yes, there isn't any HALO on this unit, the instructions are misleading. this is a "switchback" so the DRL is also the Turnsignal, they are meant to "switch back" to the white light after the turn signal is done.

 

Maybe that is done internally on the headlight assembly, 'cause this be the turn:

 

Yes, and the turn signals are working. The headlights did come with some splicing connectors - I just don't know which wires to tap into to connect the DRLs.

 

I'm guesstimating that the parking circuit is also tapped internal for the side marker bulb.

 

You have a ‘21 offroad and it came with halogen headlights? There is only one viable path forward and it’s OEM LED assemblies.

 

So, the headlight assemblies you bought seem only to function properly on after parking circuit is activated, unlike OEM type.
Surrounding LED strip is White after parking lamps are selected, once turn signal is active the switch to amber. Since it uses an LED strip they added the resistor for normal flashing sequence.
No real DRL wire into the headlight assembly.

 

Throw them in the trash. No brainer.

I don't actually know what it came with, the truck had aftermarket headlights on it when I purchased it.

Is there a way to make the DRL work at all? Everything else is doing what it's supposed to, just no white DRL

 

Seems extreme. I think the company takes them back...I purchased open box so I'm thinking they have a decent return policy.

 

Switch the lights to parking setting and take a look.
