Trucks new. The video posted is another user. Mine doesn't have any debris anywhere.

Unless you sit outside your truck from cold start all the way up to operating temp you will never hear it.

Just hopped in my 2018 company truck. Waited from cold start all the way to fully warmed up. Heard the same noise... Does it a few mins before it's at full operating temp. Drove to my nearest dunkin donuts to snag a coffee and noise it gone.

    WTF is it!

My new 2023 makes the same random ticking noise at startup.

Does it do it right at cold start or does it need to run for a bit before it happens? I won't hear it until the motor has some temp in it.

I can't believe I've never heard it on my 18 but I guess it makes sense because how often does someone sit by their truck and wait for it to fully warm up and be close enough to the engine to hear it.

I always get it my trucks, start them, let it run for 30 seconds then drive off.

@fourfourone I can hear it right after startup when my window is down. I'll have to check again next time I drive it, but I don't think I've noticed the sound when fully warm.

My '21 has been making the same noise for the last 103k miles. I expect it to keep making it for another 200k.

At 26 and 43 seconds in the video, you can really hear it (have to have the volume way up). It's not like the normal injector cleaning tick. Sounds like a rock being shaken in a coffee can. It comes and goes.

Get a cheap obd2 app. Pull injection mode and D4S pump duty ratio and correlate values with the noise.

It a very different noise. Plus it doesn't do it once the truck is fully warm. It doesn't sound anything like the cleaning cycle.

You would still want to eliminate variables related to hpfp, evap solenoid, etc. at the idle..

Hey has anyone figured out this issue? I just bought a 21 with 24k miles and it has the exact same noise. I don't hear at idle but always at light acceleration when the truck is warm. Driving me nuts.
