Just a bunch of old crap
Likely unrelated to just a windshield replacement. The underwriters found a change in your credit score, lifestyle or driving history that dinged you.

Nah, nothing changed other than that single claim.

But obviously there are a lot of variables that determine your rates. I've got 4 cars on that policy and not a single claim.

Interesting. Maybe it varies by state, too. A mystery

Of course rates vary by state, city, heck even if you move to the next town over, rates can change..

Rates are determined not only by yourself (driver) but general vehicle claim history as a whole (more claims on a specific vehicle = higher premiums)

The algorithm to determine rates is highly complex and only makes sense to the insurance co. They rate you just enough for you to not go shopping around for another co, but they charge you enough to make their money back.

As mentioned, nothing changed at all - I was paying +/- rates for years - UNTIL - I had a windshield claim which they paid out almost $1800. OEM windshield + TSS calibration.

There are other factors, weakness not being one of them, for example FJs are definitely more susceptible to windshield chips, cracks and replacements due to the angle of the windshield.

Its best to not argue with a geochemist about geochemistry.

The metalloids (which aren't metals) are known for exhibiting that behavior. Silicon dioxide, as I mentioned, is one of the most common, (actually its THE most common, being more abundant on Earth than water by over one order of magnitude.) Some organics (acetic acid, carbon) also exhibit it under the right pressure /temperature curves.

But if you really want to boil it down to the elementary school definition of covalent bonded, non-metallic, non-metalloid liquids existing at human habitated room temperatures and pressures, then yes, water is the only one.

That's beyond fixing. Most likely anytime a repair is within the drivers line of sight it's considered a goner. See if you have "Glass Deductible Waiver" on your Insurance Policy.
I have it on both my Tacoma and my wife's Tesla Model 3. I'm going to have my Tacoma windshield replaced soon, $50 deductible only. Wife has had her windshield replaced 2 times.

My insurance will pay 100% if they can repair a small chip. I had to have one repaired a few years ago on my F150. A year later got 2 more chips and they said that was too many so I had to replace the windshield. My cost would have been $500 for one with "F-150" on the windshield or $350 for a plain one. I chose the $350 option.

My 07 Tacoma got a small chip a few months ago. I bought a repair kit from AutoZone for about $17 and repaired it myself. Technically the insurance company would have paid for the repair at no cost. But too many claims send up red flags and may get you a rate increase or canceled. It was worth $17 to avoid that for me.

Only if it's a toyota original. A auto glass shop will probably charge you 1/2 that for a generic replacement.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
    All of the above.
A friend was mowing her lawn last week and hit a small rock. A piece about the size of your thumb hit the rear window on her Honda. It shattered into a million pieces (as it is supposed to) no bigger than a fingernail.

Water is a unique material. At a particular average (room) temperature it's at its densest. Raise the temperature to close to boiling and it expands. Lower the temperature to freezing and it also expands (which is why ice floats). The expanded form is less dense than its liquid form. Learned that in my physics classes.

Read my previous post. There cannot possibly be an argument lol

We don't invent or make the rules of physics.

Next up let's explore the effects of atmospheric pressure on 11 specific elements!

    Kidding let's not.

This windshield won’t be the last. I’m on my second and soon a third in five years.
