I wouldn't go that far. I towed a double jet ski trailer, maybe 1,800 lbs. for several years. It worked fine trouble free with a low capacity haul.

It was a 91 7.3 but the international made one with no turbo. Didn't have any vacuum leaks and I replaced the booster several times. Never seemed to make a difference. I was gonna swap to hydro boost and be done with it, but sold it first.

For sure not the best Choice !! I really would not use my Tacoma on a long several day trip.

When using my Ford F250 I never feel the trailer is back there unlike the Tacoma.

At times one needs to work with what one has !

Love my manual transmission many times I have come off hills in 1st gear being able to have maximum braking power if needed nice to touch cold brakes down on the flat.

Experience plays a major part when Towing i am never on the interstate unless it is the only bridge where 6 roads are funneled together.

Never a timed event 200 miles an easy 8 hours.

Thanks. Yeah I was gonna read my manual.

Sooooo I guess I’ll be installing brakes or will find a trailer with factory brakes. It’s a long and hilly drive from Surrey to prince George.:)

Serge, would love to hear about the trip when you get back. Pitfalls, what your truck handled well. I tow a 3300# camper on the prairie so I have no idea what problems a significant hill presents, let alone Rocky Mountains road driving.

    Will do sir!

It definitely will be interesting how my taco handles it.

Do you have brakes on that 3300# camper?

If you haven’t already purchased, I’d look to one w brakes,,,, better yet, maybe a double axle.

No haven’t bought anything yet, but will in about a month. Yeah I like the idea of a double axle, better control.

Buy a trailer with brakes installed .

Installing brakes from scratch is a major expensive project even doing it yourself.

Paying Labor the correct trailer is cheaper.

Is Towing going to be a long term adventure ?

If not is renting an option?

Double axle will cost more, a little more maintenance, and increase rolling resistance. But they track so much better, load much better, and are easier to back in.

err, your taking the canyon right? Nothing scary on that route- even our Westy liked driving that way. I would want the trailer brakes to get out of the lower mainland traffic though.

I moved a 10ft uhaul over the Pine Pass in a snowstorm on Christmas break with my little 22re 86. that was interesting..

    I towed a 5klb TT 8k miles last year and 100 miles with a 2klb (estimate) U-Haul u box with no brakes.

The ubox experience was the scariest part of the 8,100miles especially when I had to do an emergency stop.

Get the redarc pro brake controller.

    Hmm. Yes taking the canyon.

I’ve never towed anything like that through the mountain passes so just wanna be on the safe side. When I was 17 driving around in my first pick up, I experienced brake fade and it was freaking scary.

I did tow ~4500# double axle uhaul trailer with surge brakes locally in city and highway, was a piece of cake.

If you can afford a tandem axle trailer with brakes, it will be a lot safer.

Is this a one time move?

Yes I was surprised how easy it was to back it in VS my dads single axle boat trailer.

I’m really leaning towards a double axle trailer.

Most likely it will be 2 trips. I will also need a trailer to start my business.

Definitely won’t be adding brakes myself, I would have to pay someone. I’m not that mechanically inclined.

No just couple trips most likely but I will need a trailer for my business.
