Got the new starter in today, went in much easier, maybe a hour? Really just getting the bolts lined up was the worst part.
Bad news is, truck still wont start, even doing the starter relay bypass thing. Nothing from the starter at all....although the old one was certainly done.
Going to do some more diagnostics wiring checks tomorrow.

And Arizona does have emissions, it's just in Phoenix and Tucson only. I have to take mine thru, but it's just an OBD2 check.

I had to rework a bunch of my exhaust hangers because the header put the exhaust at a different spot than the OEM exhaust

If you don’t mind sharing a picture of what yours looks like, that would be great! I’m going to replace the old insulators then try and run a clamp from the header to the bracket that bolts up to the bell

Yea sure. You might need to replace your motor mounts too. I did mine not too long ago. It also seems like you're idling pretty high.
That's my only complaint with the LCE headers is that they loose the OEM clamp that braces the downtube to the trans bell housing.
So far I haven't had any issues with that but I've had some of the hardware rattle loose on either end of the catatalytic converter flanges. They're all double nutted now.

Otherwise nothing special setup-wise. the exhaust shop I took it to just welded on a new hanger behind the cat when things were moved around. Not the cleanest way of doing it, but it's where you don't see so whatever.

Thanks for that. I was thinking after 20+ years the motor mounts are probably ready to be freshened up. My idle is sitting around 630-650 which I always felt was low up I guess not?

I’m surprised I haven’t found more mentioning the increased vibrations after installing it, to me it was a pretty significant change but like you mentioned, motor mounts might be a big part of it. Not a job I’ll want to do myself I think

Oh it must just be how it sounded in the video then. That's a normal idle for stock tune. Mine was around 700 when stock.
I can't comment on the increased vibrations really because I did a supercharger and standalone ecu at more or less the same time as the headers, so things are definitely different than a stock motor at this point.

You could also look into an O2 sensor spacer to combat the po420 code I think yo usaid you were having. Won't pass smog with it, but dunno if you have to worry about that or not.

I second this, I remember dealing with the same shit when I did my fuel filter.

While I agree with the video overall, he didn't really take into account side wall ratings of the X factor that is manufactures different designs. Thus the BFG side wall performing different. it's also why I won't run BFGs and several others I know won't either, they slash far too easily. We have killed 12 or so BFG tires among my friends in a fairly short amount of time.

But otherwise, no surprises. Years ago we got bored arguing on here once in a BS thread and actually did the math of the contact patterns to realize there was no real difference just the shape of it. Which is why corning performance is so much different between wide and skinny too.

Sidewalls are just as strong as others. The shoulders aren't as weak as the duratracks at least. They do excellent as an all round tire but for the life of me, I can't figure out how bfg doesn't have a round mold for them. I had to balance those things every oil change. My yokies have always rolled true.

you would have thought that a company that big would have figured that out by now after all the customer complaints and with how many years I've been hearing people say that

Celebrating clearing my P0420 code! Glad I solved it without going too far down the wrong path. Replaced old vacuum lines, new sparkplugs and wires, and ran some Seafoam in the gas tank. We're ready for emissions testing baby! Need to pass before the state will give me license plates.
Also swapped the driver seatbelt for a new one. I feel violated....$240 plus tax from the local dealership.

Used a whole bottle of touch up paint cleaning up 20+ years worth of chips. Still a bunch more on the rockers that I need to get too. Chrome polished the rear bumper (which had a bunch of rust), and polished the fender trim pieces. Looks good from 10 feet, any closer and you start to see the small stuff.
