I'm in Knoxville, little over an hour south of the Tri Cities where you were. East Tennessee is a great place to live for outdoor recreation. One of the primary reasons I'm looking for a double cab flat bed are the weekday whitewater runs. Throw the boats on there without having to re-inflate at the put-in

I like Knoxville, we went there a few times when I lived in the tri cities. I do recall the weather being more favorable than not for outdoor activities! We even got a decent amount of snow in the winter which was always fun to get out in. Never did any rafting out there though, that sounds like a ton of fun

I lived in Denton, TX for a summer in college. Since there were no hills for MTB I just got really good at disc golf. There was tournament play every night of the week at various courses around that area - great scene

Disk gold is huge around here for some reason, and it may have the do with the topography. I’m kind of surprised at all the mtb trails we have here in DFW and the variety of terrains considering

Visited Trek Bike Park in Santa Clarita a few weeks ago with our 'trail bikes'. It was pretty fun.

Chino Hills State Park (Telegraph Trail) is always a nice place to visit for training. 6 miles up, 6 down.

Yesterday, we hit up Quail Hill Loop trail in Irvine. Quite challenging but weather was in our favor!

I've been enjoying my Canyon Neuron CF 9 SL w/ GX AXS since my YT Izzo Pro Race was stolen.

We've been riding more than usual and I can see how much improvement my wife has developed in her MTB skills and confidence!

parents are both alum. I almost went there too but I needed mountains. Made this for Father’s Day this year and gave it to the old man.

I hate Denton with a passion. And the lack of campus life since it’s such a commuter school. But the disc golf(and foot golf) is superb around north dfw.

no clue if they’ve got trails there now that are anything decent since I only rode in grapevine when I lived in dfw

Didn’t realize it was off the radar since there’s a Strava segment already.
Deleted the activity. Will only record on my watch from now on. And you bet I’ll be there a bunch now that I found it, that’s the kind of riding I was looking for!

heyy yeah I think we chatted when you first posted yours. I wanted one but didn’t wanna spend the almost $4k. Found it new in box for $2400. It’s been great man I love it. Took it to bentonville and rode the help out of it. Only thing I don’t like is the shitty dropper post that came with it. It sticks a lot. that would be sweet to be able to ride there w the bike. Looks like you had a good trip from your post w all the pics.

Those guys are freakin' nuts. There were a couple features I had to "save for next time" on that ride. Being there solo and seeing them for the first time I thought it wise to only ride the features I was confident on. But seeing what those dudes are riding and how, just blows my mind.
Haha, yeah not ideal. But when your bike wants to slide down the fall line, you do what you can to keep it under you. Speed control on that was key, since the exit was super jank and I didn't want to go cookin' into it. Photo I posted right before it shows the slab up top and the exit. Typical photo flattening applies, that shit was steeeeeep. Definitely a pucker feature!

You try WPL lube for the dropper? I have a PNW dropper on my main bike that likes to stick a lot - opened it up and coated it with WPL, coated the dropper tube with it and has been hassle free since; smooth as butter.

MTB was very underwhelming but I also realize I am very spoiled with all the places I've ridden.

Cool gift. I toured UNT primarily for the music school - their drumline is outstanding. Then I realized I totally couldn't afford out of state tuition

Yeah unfortunately the barrier to entry for private whitewater boating can be very steep. Boats are expensive, beta is sparse, and shit is dangerous lol. I've primarily had to learn the hard way via word of mouth; like river levels, put-in locations, and where to even buy boats

Overall East Tennessee and Western North Carolina have killer access though if you want to explore. Some popular Class 3 runs are Nolichucky (Erwin, TN), French Broad (Marshall, NC), Pigeon (Hartford, TN), and the Ocoee (Ocoee, TN). We typically use rafts though because you can't fit a cooler on a kayak. Commercial outfitters typically sell their fleet at the end of the season

If you're bored and want to explore gnarly shit look at Raven Fork, Talluluah Gorge, or the Gauley

I live by Fullerton loop so that’s my home trail, I ride here often since it convenient. I also frequently go to Chino Hills/Carbon Canyon, Powder Canyon, and Turnbull Canyon. I ride a 2022 Giant Anthem pro 0 and also have a 2021 Giant Trance Advanced pro 1
