Driving a turbocharged truck made laugh the other day. I take off from the stop sign, the turbo spools the transmission shifts gears, the blow of valve releases the excess pressure. That happens a few more times as I get up to speed. Then I realized this truck drives like a car.

Good luck with the Powerboost. My pops has one and has had a hell of a time with a no start issue. Lots of guys are. Hope you get a good one.

Best of luck with the new Ford. I love my truck but I hate Toyota. Market adjustments, useless overpriced add-ons especially from SE Toyota where I live, dealership service departments with incompetent staff where every problem you bring them is "normal". If I had to buy again now I'd be looking elsewhere. (And yes, I realize the dealership part of my rant is probably most places, not just Toyota lol).

Wifes Ford Edge with the eco-boost engine apparently just had a catastrophic failure, at 62k miles. 2k beyond warranty. The head gasket blew, turbo issue and supposedly possible tranny issue. They said $10.5K to fix and that did not include tranny. Not sure how reliable Fords are or how trustworthy their mechanics are, but I've had at least 5-6 Toyota trucks over the last 30+ years with literally no major mechanical issues to speak of. Rust issues are a different story though.

Good for you (just trying to be good here). It's Ford and wrong place to post this. Good luck with that btw. Hit or miss.

When buying my truck, I was firmly on the fence between a 2023 Tacoma TRDOR DCSB and a 2019 F150 XLT 302 package FX4 with sport trim, 8k miles, and the 8 cylinder. About the same price. It’s a tough call but the many timing chain replacements around 100k miles on the F150 swayed me to the Tacoma. I plan to drive this thing until the wheels fall off - didn’t want a guaranteed $5k+ fix in 4-5 years. Your new truck sounds awesome - hope you enjoy it!

    A Ford?

    Are they still around? :D

That is one brand I've never considered owning... not even remotely.

None of the US domestics, actually...

Agree with you the only engine I would consider in the F150 would be the 5.0 V8. Not sure why a timing chain would need replaced at 100K? I get Honda and their timing belts.

I should have got the 5.0, or the 6.2 250 I was looking at. The 5.0 V8 seems like a good motor, and you can get the super charger that makes like 700HP and dual exhaust. I got the 2.7tt, better chance at keeping my license that way.
