Clearly this is a hate crime and Toyota is trying to make reparations. And yes, this should be a Friday thread and yes, I'm part of the problem.

I didn't even know it came with a blackout pkg. I bought it for the 6 ft bed, the crew cab, the V6.... I was not on the fence and saw Blackout pkg and was like "oh man, name your price".

The letter also stated I could spend the money to have the pkg installed. However, I do believe I'm going to spend it on a programmer and TPMS for a set of FJ rims I have setting around. That is unless I decide it's to much of a hassle and throw the letter in the trash.

OK, fair enough. Guess I'm a little jaded when it comes to large corps and money.

1st gen - it's got a built engine, a turbo, and waaaaaaay too much to list. 3rd gen - basic-bitch lift, S/C, Pro Wheels
They're banking on customers not signing and returning due to the "extra" steps or plain forgetting to follow through.

Same thing as those rebates from anywhere. If they REALLY wanted to they could give you the discount immediately. But by requiring the extra steps, customers see the rebate, get excited and buy product, then (because we're human) forget to process the rebate. Now you paid full price like they originally wanted you to with no remorse from the company.

I'm guessing the "blackout" package is probably just blacked out emblems, and maybe a blacked out grille instead of a chrome one. Not really much else to "blackout" legally.

How did you get a hold of Toyota? I have had other issues and could never get a hold of someone from their corporate office

Wait, people pay more for plain wrap now? LOL, back in the 80's we used to scrape up what ever change etc and buy some of that plain wrap beer. It said "Beer" on the can[IMG]

Probably your Toyota is one of many that didn't get exactly that item you paid for so they are heading off a class action suit by achieving your signature. Plus some probably threw the letter away and they won't have to pony up the money.
