I get at least 2 phone calls a month from people wanting me to come work for them and the first and only resume I've ever made was for that Building Inspector position. What you just had happen is my normal. lol

 

i couldnt get a ̶j̶o̶b̶ interview without a 4 year degree and 5+ years experience....
had a cousin help me get a foot in the door where I'm currently at and here i am with 4 years of experience finally making good money.

Counter: the first gig out of college was a "who ya know" sort of thing, but my current and last job were throwing darts.

Gotta flub that experience. Internship? That's a year. Temp worker as an inspection tech? That's another year. There's no computer screening saying "Oh, no, this person is 4 years and 364 days of experience, DELETED!" - just send it. Heck I got an interview with a Civ Engineering firm last round of job hunting just by a shotgun approach with my resume (I really wanted out). Ended up finding the job I wanted, not just one to get out

 

trust me i applied to any and every job that i was looking for. it didnt help that when i graduated college the local economy was in a dump
