So I am trying to figure out what I want to do with my OR wheels. It seems a lot of what I like aren't really available in 16". Are there any big reasons to or not to move up to 17". This is a mostly daily with some trail use nothing crazy. I do like the scs Ray10 but they dont have 16s. I also like the black trd pro 17s.

Random stuff. Oh! and converted to non ADD 4x4.
My only advise is: If you spend money, spend it on things that will give you performance(beadgrip, beadlock, bead studs and the proper offset) and not only looks. Size it’s up to you. Cheers!

Unless your really wheelin hard with low tire pressure 16” vs 17” is negligible.

I went to the TRD pro 17” wheels to have more 255 tire options. So far so good!

No pros or cons. Just buy what you want. Price differences are negligible

    I run 16s on my 35s and I wish I'd run 17s.

There's really no difference performance wise between 16 and 17 -- the tread is negligble -- but a) 17s have more size options and b) big brake upgrade kits require 17s minimum (except for the SOS performance kit on their smaller rotors but 17s would still be better).

Like other have stated, if you look at what size wheels are coming on the newer vehicles, you will see that the trends are not sticking with 16” overall. The larger disc brakes are necessitating a larger wheel to accommodate these new models. You will still find some good 16” options, but you might not find your new favorite tire in the 16” option.

There are some unique sizing options that you might or might not be interested in that are only offered in 17” wheels. The 285/75/17 or 34” comes to mind. But you should consider width because if you pick too wide a wheel, you might option yourself out of the tall/skinny tire options.

It really comes down to what you want to be doing with your taco. Figure that out, and it will make your path a little clearer.

I like 17’s because of the 255/75 and 265/70 options. I also think 17’s are just right for aesthetics. Really it all comes down to personal preference. On stock or near stock size tires, you won’t be doing enough wheeling for sidewall to matter.

Much better options for tires on 17's. I just got some new wheels to fit the 35x10.5 tires, but even if you don't want to go that big there are options for C load or SL load tires in 285/70-75 to keep things light. It seems like most of the larger tires available in 16's were E load.

    If you're running 35s I can't imagine why you wouldn't want E, though.

I'm not, I've got e-load K02's 285/75r16 now. Got some 35x10.5 d-load in the basement to go on 17" rims soon.

17 tires are easier to find in case you need a replacement in a small town
