I mean, they even said it is built on the TNGA-F chassis. I can't imagine they build a 4runner on the same chassis. What would it offer? Lots of people like the 4Runner though. I find this such a weird release personally. I love it, I love all Toyotas. But idk how to feel if the 4Runner is killed.

I don't think the 4R is dead. I'm guessing it will be or offer it in a hybrid. But the same engines as the Tacoma.

1976 Land Cruiser was one of the best vehicles I ever owned. One with power steering, power windows, power everything would not be the same type of vehicle.

Yes. The round lights are a heritage edition.

It’s only dead in name. This is the new 4Runner. Same Tacoma drivetrain, similar styling, smaller than than the GX. There’s no way Toyota keeps the 4Runner in the lineup as a separate vehicle. It would be way too similar and maybe only slightly less expensive. Most 5th gens sold are at the 50 mark.

Selfishly I hope that is the case. The value of my truck is going to skyrocket if so.

This is going to be much more expensive than the 4Runner.

All about the trims. Entry level LC will probably be similar in form and function to the most commonly purchased 4R for a little higher price. Probably the same as 4th gen Tacoma in terms of price increase.

Doubtful. Did you watch the video? That’s not a cheap vehicle. It certainly isn’t a $40K 4Runner build.

Hybrid only, you get more torque but all the downsides of hybrid technology. I guess these will be manufactured in Japan?

I can't recall seeing a LC on the road pulling a trailer, I might have seen a LX570 with a trailer behind it. I'm sure people tow with them, it's not a common sight.

It’s not currently cheap, and press videos never roll the lower trims. Same with new Tacoma.

Hopefully a bit more, I imagine the LC weighs 500lb or so heavier than the taco based on the tow capacity.

Yep, definitely heavier. Though these are the hybrid numbers not a non hybrid MPG

A bare bones LC w cloth/manual seats will start at 55k. The current full-tilt 4Runner TRD Pro or Limited is the same price.

Does the next 4R get de-contented, or is Toyota going to offer a loaded 4R w the same iforce max for the same price as a Tercel-grade Land Cruiser. For that matter, will a loaded Tacoma Trailhunter/Pro w the same iforce max cost less than a basic LC. We’ll soon see, but if they all have the same basic platform & drivetrains I’d personally ignore the badges and lay money down on the cheapest of the clones.
