The Woozle Effect or "Who Is Hobbs Really?"

In 1926 the literary classic Winnie the Pooh was published.

In Chapter Three, Winnie and his friend Piglet discover mysterious tracks.
They decide to follow them but can't manage to catch up with whatever made them.
They speculate on the creature who made the tracks.
These speculations get somewhat out of hand and they conclude they were made by the mythical Woozle
Christopher Robin spoils the fun when he observes that the tracks were made by Pooh and Piglet themselves.

This has given rise to something called "The Woozle Effect"
When some particular bit of bullshit from an unreliable source gets repeated and passed along often enough, it becomes received wisdom.
And because people are lazy, no one bothers going to the trouble of disproving it.

Soooooo... what does this have to do with @Hobbs (I hear you asking)

What do we know about him really?
@StayinStock (remember what I said about unreliable sources)...
... has posted a picture purporting to be of himself and the elusive Hobbs.

People talk about him, but appearances are about as rare as Sasquatch sightings.

And remember the Great Hobbvent?
Who could possibly have pulled that off without admin privileges?
