Yeah the more I learn the more I am happy I didn’t go 285s as soon as I got the truck a couple months ago. Leaning towards pizza cutters. Curious on the ‘23 Pro how big a pizza cutter will fit. I know you can fit 33” on the OR wheels and suspension so I would assume slightly larger due to offset and lift.

And it makes complete sense now, the reason it was perched on my exhaust port for so long was because it was conducting its metamorphosis, as you originally said, when I saw the orange one I thought it must have been waiting for a mate that whole time and males are usually vivid in color so as to attract the females, but I was way off.

I might be wrong but I’m pretty sure 255/85/16 is the biggest you can fit stock with no rubbing. I’ve only run 265’s and 285’s so don’t take my word for it.

It’s funny you mention that, I sent the article to my wife and she said it’s the perfect car for her and she “needs it”

I think I mentioned it before but her car is ancient so we’ve been planning on buying her a new one in the next year or two. We were also planning to get a 4Runner.

Looks like we might be getting one of the new LC’s instead, it fits the bill for exactly what we want.

Nice! Sounds like it could be a great fit then. Just gotta wait t for more specs and a test drive.
We’ve not even been in a new(er) 4R so mine might not even like on the inside or how it drives/feels. She like the way it looks on the outside when it have larger tires

Yeah we’ll see! I’ll have to go look at a new LC in person once they start hitting lots but I have a feeling they’re going to be extremely hard to find. At least for the first year or two.

I also have never been in one of the current Gen 4 runners.

Yeah I think you are right. I know with the 22-'23 Pro on stock you can fit 285's without rubbing. After I wrote that I went and looked and there isn't anything bigger than those two 33' options that will fit without further modifications. I didn't realize there wasn't anything taller in that width range. When I wear through the stockies a little I will prob still go with the 255's for the better performance overall. Problem is I don't see any A/T tires just M/T in that size. Am I just missing it?

17 or 16"? In 17" there aren't many options. TireRack shows only one.

    upload_2023-8-2_11-11-17.png

in 16s the choices are more plentiful, including my favourite AT

    upload_2023-8-2_11-12-47.png

I've had good luck with SimpleTire too - except while living where I live, as the only installer near aberdeen has 2/5 rating from customers due to scratched wheels, imballanced tires, and no desire to fix the issue.

Nope you’re not missing anything. That’s why I have never run 255’s…If you don’t want a mud terrain then your only option is the St. Maxx’s and those cost more per tire than my monthly truck payment. That’s not an exaggeration. I’m talking about tire choices for 16” wheels because that’s what I have. 17” wheels give you more choices for skinnies.

I think I’ll be sticking with 265’s for now because I’ve had great luck with my hybrid tires. Never been close to getting stuck and I have plenty of clearance for everything i do plus gas mileage is great.

@photodoc if you’re looking for somewhat of a middle ground, the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss runs pretty big. A 265/75/16 is 32” which is bigger than any other tire that size I’ve seen. It’s also 3PMS rated (good) but very heavy (bad).

Be ungovernable. He should run these:

If i ever stop wanting MTs, I'll probably switch to a 17" wheel and find a 33 or 34 that fits nicely - skinny as I can find though.

    :rofl::rofl:

Yeah man I always think about switching to 17’s just for the additional tire options. I just can’t justify the price when I’m getting such good MPGs now and my 265’s do everything I need. Ugh.

16" is what I am looking at. I have the stock PRO wheels.

Yeah they aren't cheap! I am sticking with the stock 16" pro wheels for a while.

Yeah that's a good size tire...but yeah I don't really want to go regear for some heavy tires to gain 1/2" of ground clearance.

    Those look perfect! Ordered :spending:

I don’t think you would need to regear at all. I’ve been running heavy 265’s for a while and my truck drives great. I do have it tuned though.
