dont even get me started on the rescuing animals thing........

my wife & kids have rescued several dozen kittens/cats over the years. there are just soooooo many. we pay to have everything spayed/nuetered & what not & STILL give them away. it just never ends. we still have 4 cats here at our home. youngest daughter has 4 cats at her home..... & we turn people away every week who call asking if we can take more.

that doesnt even count the ones that people literally throw at their window into our woods as they drive by. some crawl over to the neighbors farms, some get eaten by yote's. sigh its depressing but we just cant do anymore.

& then we have 4 dogs.... animal "helping" is so much a thing in my wife/kids lives that they have rehabbed, turtles with busted shells, birds with broken everything, several families of squirrels (yes we are a registered & trained squirrel rescue as well), SNAKES, possums, ground hogs, coons. it never ends.

the last snake got hit by the mower. didnt cut him into... it just skinned him across the back. yeah i made the mistake of telling a daughter it was out there. she went & caught him, drove him an hour away to the animal rescue center that does snakes... cost me $250 & then she brought it back & turned it loose. sigh.

racoon got hit by car & lived; that was a 2 hour trip to drop it off at the rescue that takes those. (they dont give them back they relocate)
possum goes to the same place. deer go there as well. squirrels that are injured go there too. If not injured? we have a certified & approved set up to feed/raise them until release on our place. birds of prey go to this place as well.

all this going on at the same time as rescuing cats & dogs... 4 H, girl scouts & the older girl did 4 sports, younger did 3... rarely on the same team or league. both of us working high pressure/stress jobs with long hours & big drives.

yeah life has been exhausting. Its why im so enjoying this start up to retirement. my health is so/so & things HAVE to slow down. its being forced that way. hell yes its a good thing. :) im adapting to a regular work type pace very quickly. now all i gotta do is stay alive & live the dream!

well crap. cant even finish this post.... because a dog is ringing the bell to go outside.

the pellet gun? or the dog door? we have both. :) but the "dog" door is only big enough for cats..... down a spiral stair case to the "catio" safe area. no dogs allowed out there. no predators can get in or out. unless its a hawk or an owl. (yes this is a real thing)

The dogs are only allowed out under supervision. the 2 hounds like to eat my wifes flower beds up & the bullydogs will stroke out in the heat. no free range for dogs here.
